Microsoft has no control over the ROMS once they reach RTM and are given to the OEMs and carriers. It is entirely up to the carrier (working in conjunction with the OEM) to determine whetehr it is in their best interest to offer a given update for a given device.
Gwapito, 16 Sep 2009Hi all. To those who wanna update to 6.5 here's the link. its fast tried and tested
http://fo... more@ Gwapito, good to see your post after such a long time Gwapi. Hey, any thing to be cautioned about wm6.5 on i780? could you let me know the minimum ram required to run wm6.5 and how is the battery back up after using 6.5 over the 6.1?
For all those who want to put in wm6.5 wait a minute take some time out and see how Samsung has joined LiMo to become few of the manufacturers to make Linux Operating system to be their next os on all samsung phones.
Have a look at this link to watch the video
It may not be the best to look at in term of the UI but, its the most stable os out there.

Anonymous, 14 Jul 2009Since last 1 week or so my i780 is giving problem. The date and time changes automatically. Ma... moreIt is not the virus. I think you have changed the Regional Setting on "Time". Once it is changed, all calendar time correspondingly change, like originally is 6 pm, and it changes to -3 hours, then all time set in the calendar will change by 3 hours earlier, ie. eg above, to 3 pm.
mubin, 03 Sep 2009Can I upgrade it to 6.5, please? Now, I use 6.1.@Mubin: No, MS is offering the update to 6.5 only in the US now on a very few carriers. For the rest of the world you can download the cooked ROM's from few forums.
Caution: My brother couple of days ago loaded the 6.5 on his HTC Daimond and its really great.....but very sloppy and slow. Reason being the minimum RAM required to run wm6.5 is 128MB so, if you plan to update your present phone with the 6.5ver you can imagine how slow it can get!

Can you tell us what software/handset set up your referring to here? Thanks
I used to own one of these, sold it, got a HTC Touch Pro 2, now I've sold that, going back to the I780 - it really is second to none as a guy below says, with the right software its superb. I missed the joypad/mouse alot and the Pro 2 is far too big and flimsy.

Marilize, 27 Aug 2009I absolutely love this phone. It has everything I want in a phone and it's very user friendly.... morei780....lovely phone.....i had new one.....but i will sell it....i want to change .....omnia II.....Marilize...where u from?
I absolutely love this phone. It has everything I want in a phone and it's very user friendly. I had mine for 7 months and then it got stolen 2 days ago. I am definitely interested in buying a new one, but heard that it's been discontinued. If anyone has one that they'd like to sell, please post a message here telling me? Also, if you could suggest a new phone more or less the same as the i780, let me know also? I'm desperate and don't know where to start.
One can barely see anything under the sunlight. The trackpad does not work nicely either. Not recommemded to anyone.
generally nothing is very well thought out - u can only use the mouse or the stylus instead of navigation buttons, you cant turn off programs instead have to open task bar and close them one at a time else the phone will lag from lack of memory, it often cant connect to the internet because windows cant decide which connection to use, camera doesnt integrate with MMS like a phone costing half as much can. the keyboard is my biggest gripe - it will get on your nerves its so small. basically all the features you use the majority of the time are the most annoying and least well thought out. i thoroughly regret buying it.
