If I had your problem,I would check some softwares which change user's ip to another country like UK or...and test the update system.maybe works!
using cooked rom is another solution that seems you are not interested...
good luck

Hello Forum,

Just bought a new Omnia II i8000 which is GSM. I bought it in iran. When I set up the Omnia for the first time I set my country at UK, since I thought it would help me to update it to 6.5. The Samsung New PC Studio (NPS) to update my phone to 6.5 is not available. I tried downloading one from the UK website and Singapore website but they won't work for my phone. I think I will never buy another Samsung phone again in the future if they play these tricks with the customers. I should be able to update my phone no matter where I live in the world. The box my phone came in says that the phone is updateable to 6.5. angry.gif

My phone details are :

PDA : I8000JVIJ1
CSC: I8000ARBIJ1
PHONE : I8000XXIJ1

Can someone please guide me on how to change these settings so that I will be able to update using the UK or Singapore NPS. I dont want a custom made ROM, but the official ROM from Samsung with TouchWiz. I only require English language support. Also a way to revert back to the original 6.1 ROM incase I have to send my phone back to Samsung Service Center. I have spent a lot of time looking around on this forum but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Heads up to those with problems with the landscape txt problems, hold your mobile portrait, then tilt your mobile to the left and down twice in quick succession to set landscape. To set portrait, hold it portrait and dip it right and down twice to set it back. Works every time.

The Phone would be nice it you would get 256 MB ram BUT, more than HALF is reserved by samsung, under 50 MB Windows Mobile 6.5 autokill apps and you find yourself with a phone that sometimes is not even SINGLETASK. Soo instead of 256 there should be put 60 RAM so that people know when looking into specifications. Go for a phone with better RAM. So what if it has 800 MHz proccessor if you cant make multitask ?

Hi All,

To anyone who's having trouble with the landscape mode while texting, this could be the solution.. go to innovator.samsungmobile.com and download Orientation Dectection or go this link: http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000-verizon-sch-i920-omnia-ii-http-i8000-modaco-com/294337/orientation-detection-v1-0-autorotation-v1-1/

Goodluck..

Thakshi, 20 Feb 2010Hey, frndz who r using Omnia-2 > I would like to know d condition of below features of diz... more(E-Excellent, G-Good, B-Bad, W- Worse)
01.)OS - (G) WM6.5 not good, not bad. Samsung UI is very laggy to appear.
02.)Camera (G) Not perfect. Minimum required.
03.)Battery & Bat life (E) Truly amazing.
04.)Touch screen (B) Resistive :( need a lot of pressure to respond, compared to SE m600i or iTouch for ex. Upper left corner is bad responsive.
05.)Messaging (E) In fact, after some practice, the virtual qwerty is actually great to write quickly
06.)Browsing (B) I consider the Wi-Fi kinda slow; and sometimes buggy, losing signal even if you're in front of the router. If the phone enters lock screen, you lose the net, like messenger or skype -_- That's really stupid because gmail notification is practically useless like this.
07.)Finishing (?) You mean the hardware, the design? Actually, it's pretty rough, and fits well in the hand. Dunno why, but when you grab it or give it a little knock, it trembles. Not like the mobile's vibration-- it really trembles, like a mega speaker or so. It's odd, but I like it.

You didn't ask, but things you should know, maybe:
08.) Sound is great. Speaker is nitid and loud.
09.) Pretty buggy sometimes. Needed to take off the battery 2 times in a week.
10.) Getting to a contact from the phonebook is not really great...
11.) Widgets are sooo limited. Like 23 or so, and the majority is just useless.
12.) Video play may have lag if there is movement and the file is big (Like 300MB+), but you barely notice it.
13.) Flash is good. Camera has the problem of not post-viewing a photo taken. If you want to preview your photo, you need to push a button on the screen.
14.) Swapping through photos is nice, but slow.
15.) Videocall is great. There are very options on videocall and call itself, like taking an automatic note of the call (with name, hours etcetc about the call).
16.) Youtube player is really really BAD. Awful resolution.
17.) Screen is brilliantly beautiful and detailed. Great under sunlight.
18.) When the phone is locked and you want to unlock it, after pressing the button you have to wait like 3 seconds for the screen to appear. SO slooow.
19.) Radio app is awsome. RDS and recorder, with detailed config about sound quality.
20.) The cube... Is useless. :\

21.) Overall, good phone, but SHOULD be better with a 256MB RAM that is in fact 50MB user-free. And a 800MHz processor that don't makes the phone ultrafast (i wish... *sigh*)

I read comments about people updating from WinMob 6.1 to 6.5, and I'd really appreciate some link or something and any advice - I'm not all that good at this computer stuff.
I tried through www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile..., but it only pops out American operators (I still have a US SIM I used to use over there, but the carrier's update isn't available yet), whereas my country's website doesn't even have anything of the sort.

I've had this phone for about 3 moths now, and even though I was a big fan of Samsung, I'm really disappointed in some things:

- there are NO sound profiles, every time I go in/outside, I have to manually adjust volume, vibration & key/messaging volume EACH - verrry annoying

- that brings me to another thing - SMS, MMS & alike sounds are part of the phone system sounds, they're NOT assigned to ringtones, so I have to have everything beeping every time I touch the phone if I want to hear an incoming message (and I always hated that) - even more annoying

- if I want to set up the alarm, I press the clock widget, but by default it first takes me to timezones (!), and have to press another button to access the alarm

- even though I've preset it to display Monday as the first day in the week, depending on the view sometimes it's Sun and sometimes Mon

Like I said, I was a biiig fan of Samsung and have been dreaming about this phone forever, and now I'm really disappointed. I mean, it works great generally and I still love it, but these things are really some basic ones that have been around forever, and now they're suddenly gone? Seriously?!
