Mustaine8661, 24 Oct 2008It actually has 3.5G which is a damn sight quicker that the iPhone. It actually has 3.5G which drains the battery a damn sight quicker than the iPhone which is also 3.5G.
There I fixed it for you.
Due to the way 3.5G works i.e. being connected to multiple phone towers at once to get the speed required, it drains the battery faster.
If you look at any of the 3.5G phones you will notice battery life is a common complaint.
This trade off will only be solved by the introduction of something that can store a lot more power eg fuel cells, but that's still a long way off.
Symbian is the best software ever with hardware samsung
so it's rocks N96
The only disadvantage for INNOV8 the battery max. 2 days and expensive
whats so great about this phone? does it have 3g internet like the iphone? looks great but why so expensive? what does it have?

...currently there is no Nokia that can match the functionality of this phone or any of the other 8 megapixel camera phones.

The improvement from 2420 also extremely numerous. The CPU frequency has been pulled up to 450MHz from previous value of 330MHz. The chipset can work with high definition camera(> 5 MP) and it take less than a second to take shot. The rest important point about 2430 hardware are an upgrade TWL4030 module (TWL 92230 was used in 2420). TWL4030 is multifunctional solution providing access to numerous codecs, dedicated audio processing module, noise filters, and so on.
Samsung i8510 is the first Samsung smartphone to fully utilize the potential of the hardware graphics accelerator. It is an absolute requirement for processing 8 megapixel images, real-time VGA video decoding with separate audio signal processing(done by dedicated DSP, excluding the possibility of using the music player and camera at the same time). The graphic accelerator can now handle twice as few polygons per second, commonly used to power the best gaming phone.
Nokia N85 utilizes the same hardware as N78, N81, and N79. Freescale is cheaper solution for the most expensive TI OMAP 2430. The lack of 3D accelerator is blatant in the Jbenchmark 3D test. N85 lags behind in other test as well. Despite the lags seen in the test, N85 audio quality is the same with N96, a bit above than N78, but a bit below than Samsung GT-i8510 INNOV8.

It's so sad since Samsung Innov8 was posted as #1 phone rated on... moreJBenchmark only tests performance for specific Java calculations. Synthetic Java benchmark shows nothing noteworthy regarding real processor performance.
Freescale I.MX31 is a much better platform than old and power hungry OMAP 2430. You can read it yourself too. Here:
A standalone 3D accelerator has nothing to do with video recording, decoding and playback and photo processing. These are handled via Image and Video Accelerator found in the cpu or as another standalone chip. A standalone 3D accelerator isn't supported by most of the applications at all except by very limited number of Java games. N-gage games for Nokia do not support 3D accelerator.
Definitely N85>INNOV8 in terms of overall performance. INNOV8 is so bulky. I don't know much about N96 but I agree that INNOV8>N96.
What about sound quality in earphones of N85 compared to INNOV8? Does INNOV8 has dedicated sound processor?

It's so sad since Samsung Innov8 was posted as #1 phone rated on gsmarena.com with design, features, and performance average of 8.8 just 5 days ago. All of a suddon the ratings drops!! Hmmm.. It does show we have some Butthurt Nokia fans

Dani , 23 Oct 2008Either this or N95 8GB hard decision. It is personal opinion but N95 vs INNOV8 ?! No chance. Nokia got outdated hardware. At this moment, in this category of mobile phones. INNOV8 is the "new king".

shawn, 22 Oct 2008This would have been a True N95/N96 killer if it had 850/1900 for 3G. This phone will not work... moreThis is a True N95/N96 killer !!! U know, There is people out of US to, and they not even know what AT&T is !
wow, 22 Oct 2008brilliant
but i have a question before i buy it
whats about its music sound?
i... more Samsung GT-i8510 INNOV8 audio quality is simply the best, better than Nokia N96, Nokia N85 or Motorola ROKR E8. The only device to have previously shown comparable result is Nokia N91. The i8510 has a very deep, natural, close-to-life sounding.
Samsung i8510 scores a clear win in this challenge, at least among the majority of modern music profile handset. The basses clearly feel different from the mid range and high range sounds, so you get your stereo as crystal clear as they come. The 3D sound effect is so imppressive that you may actually mistake an instrument from the track for a real sound source located somewhere behind your back. Thank's to DNSe 2.0 (Digital Natural Sound engine).
It's now amiable in Mumbai (India) & the price is around RS:- 42,749/- too expensive I will wait till price will down around RS 25 to 30 thousand.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970It does work like an N95, it has the same Symbian operating system and the camera is a lot better.
