dont compare samsung i8510 innov8 with n96. theyre of different class. samsung innov8 is an all- rounder focusing on camera & music. nokia n96 is also an all- rounder focusing on video & live tv. samsung innov8 has an 8mp camera that gives the best image quality among all camera phones today. it also has the best sound quality among all music phones. while n96's camera is a downgrade from n95's camera. n95 has a focal length of 5.7, n96 has a focal length of only 5.2. and n96's camera has a smaller lens than n95 so it gives worse image quality than n95.
Hi I have had this phone for about 10 days now and overall it is what I expected, However the btery life is to be blunt rubbish. If you are lucky it will last 24 hours on standby not the 300 hours it is supposed to. I perhaps wouldn't mind if yo could buy spares for it but, no, and samsung ase behind on there website to look for solutions. I have read the Sony Erikkson is supposed to be an equal if not better. I am no expert but I would rethink before buying, who knows maybee some one will bring out a better battery.
This phone is fantastic thats all i can say! great stuff samsung!
@ dan you can download the 8gb version manuel here
the quick start guide is here
I've been an N95 user for the last 18 months and I just upgraded to this phone because it also uses the Symbian OS. Chose it over the new Nokia N96/N85 based on a few features: USB charge, 8GB, 8MP camera, touch pad, micro SD, button layout and overall look.
First impressions... Looks and feels great. Heavier than N95 but shallower so more pocketable. No faster than N95 but not slower either. All in all I'm happy with the choice.
I don't like that the OS has no Search program on the standby screen as I had in my N95. I also will miss sportstracker (if I can't get it to work) and at the moment handysafe won't sync with my PC.
Also the Samsung PC Studio is behind Nokia's PC Suite. No synching of bookmarks, no phone updater (yet). Also Samsung UK's site still lists this phone as "coming soon" and there are no links to software/manuals yet. Soem links are there bu go nowhere :-( Come on Samsung!
So if PC integration and the range of Symbian software are important to you, go for a Nokia. If you must have an 8MP camera or just like Samsung, this is a great choice. Even more so if you have never bee spoiled by nokia's great device support.
I suppose it's early days and support/updates might improve in time.
vikz, 12 Sep 2008Had a play about with this phone at work, My opnion (rubbish) i have had my n95 since release ... moreYou can check out video recording samples of the Samsung Innov8 on Youtube and you can clearly see that the video recording is no different than N95 If not better. I had the N95 from day one and the videos I recorded with it have had a purple tint to it no matter what firmware I was on, even including the latest. Also the N95's camera both picture & video is completely useless at night. If you want to buy the new N81 go for it... I mean N96.. they all look the same. ;-P (Bulky, cheap plastic material, and Ugly)
this phone has no rival as of this time. se's 8mp c905 is not a smartphone, as well as lg's kc910. samsung innov8 is the first and the only 8mp camera smartphone. this phone does not only focus on camera alone. it's an all-rounder. don't say that it's just like a copy of n95. n95 has a very poor music player with an awful sound quality dressed in a poor build casing, while samsung innov8 has a dsp sound chip that gives the best sound quality in the market today. build quality is miles ahead than any nokia smartphone. this is currently the best s60 smartphone to date, and it's not nokia.
Usil, 10 Sep 2008This phone in available to buy in the UK but only on contract with Orange and O2. This phone w... moreHad a play about with this phone at work, My opnion (rubbish) i have had my n95 since release and still think is the nest phone on the market, well untill the the n96 is released in a few weeks, it is a clone of the n95 as running on symbian 60 platform, all the menus and functinality is the same, the gps does not work just like n95, is to big of a handset, there are a few videos on the phone, playback is pretty good, but the so called europes first 8mp camera was rubbish, still images werent to bad but the video recording was blocky like a 2mp camera phone. stik to the nokias people.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Here is the store location listing for all Axiom Telecom stores located in Dubai. They all have the phone in stock from what I know. and said the 16gb Innov8 price is 3,699 AED.
Midas, 11 Sep 2008(SHANIA) I'm from London, UK. I didn't pay for the phone i got it on upgrade from o2 on a £45 ... morehi Midas,
u said you got this phone as an upgrade on O2? How come? Are you with o2 directly or through other phon retailers like CPW or phones4u?
i ask coz I haven't seen this yet on O2.
I've now had mine just over a week. Best mobile ever made. End of. I had a couple of Samsungs a few years ago (D500 & D600) I've had a shedload of SE's, a few Nokias, an LG, an HTC a Moto, and this destroys them all.
Although I still want one of these:
I have just bought the New Samsung i8510 and its simply cracking it has the same operating system as the Nokia N95. The only difference between the N95 and the i8510 is the 8 megapixel camera and the 8 gig memory card which can be inserted on top of the 8 or 16 gig mass memory which is already installed on the phone. The google maps sat nav is a big improvement on the N95 aswell the Nokia maps takes ages to get a satellite position but the i8510 comes through within a minute sometimes even faster and it also has route 66 navagation on this phone aswell but the plus points for me is the extra memory and the camera which makes this mobile 10/10
a question sirs
I have been able to play with some of samsungs camera such as the d600 and the d900
and I found that in poor lighting (indoors or with no light a tall)
when I use the camera, both the d600 and the d900 have very slow camera in poor lighting
the viewfinder of the camera with still or while recording video slows down to mere 7fps or less
I was wondering....does i8510's camera have any trouble in poor lighting conditions?
Just got the phone today - superb!! Only a few probs getting going - 1 I have a constant flashing envelope (txt msg i think) but there are NO unread messages. 2 keep getting bad gateway or cannot refresh feed when accessing web pages. can anyone help
(SHANIA) I'm from London, UK. I didn't pay for the phone i got it on upgrade from o2 on a £45 a month contract...
Midas, 11 Sep 2008I got this phone 2 days ago and I still habve my n95 as i always been a nokia fan. but serious... moreHey Midas....where r u from?can u plz tell me how much u payed for the phone...thank you
I fail to see how all the Nokia lovers can put the innov8 in the same league comparsion wise as the N95/N96. Samsung have released probably the best phone ever made and released to the public. Nokia cannot be compared as a rival until they at least release an 8mp model! Im a fan of the best phone on the market not the make so am unbiased in that way. Samsung have produced a beauty, it takes a while to get used to as with the menu layout but once you get into the swing of it then its easy enough. Maybe compare the battery life with Nokia (not too hot lol) and someone mentioned the signal, my K850i had a much better signal, not sure why but Samsung phones don't seem to hold a signal as good as Sony and possibly Nokia. Possibly due the antenna being in the base of the phone rather than the top but I doubt it. Wondering how the new LG will compare, the innov8 is quite long when slid up plus theres no xenon flash. Even still its the best phone currently available in the world, nice one Samsung=)
I got this phone 2 days ago and I still habve my n95 as i always been a nokia fan. but seriously all those nokia bias comments? u people need to be real. unless you've used it dont comment on its performance as a samsung. anyone with this great phone would agree that you cant tell the difference between this phone and a nokia n95/n96 because the functionality is the same. like many others i am also getting an n96 as this is my first samsung but i know the n96 will be used as a second phone. this is by far the best camera phone and with the symbian 9.3 os samsung have done themselves a lot of justice. i will still always remain loyal to nokia but realistically no nokia phone is worth having if you have a samsung i8510. Even the GPS software Wayfinder is fantastic! it offers more features than nokia maps could ever dream of.... so to all my fellow nokia fans, dont judge a book by its cover!!! get this phone.
