Wow, what a response on my little comment. Amazing how upset some people can get over a little opinion. Thanks to the other people for being mature and supporting my comment.
I never said this was a bad phone, i said the camera should't be the main buying factor, then you will probably walk around and expect far more then you are really getting. The other software on the phone should be a buying factor, cause it is packed with features. I´m not a samsung, nokia, ericsson, apple, htc hater/lover or whatever childish camps or gerilla fractions you are divided into, i have too much of a real life to get upset over stuff some people here are getting upset over. It's a forum for opinions. If you can't answer and write in a civilized manner with mature arguments, then don't write at all.

Cheers

Kodakmaster has a good point on this phone's cam and a real camera. And nowhere did claim using iphone to compare it to this samsung unit. It looks like some with negative posts towards Kodakmaster should take their opinions and stick it where their eyes are for not reading posts properly.

This phone is great for taking pictures and has plenty of uses as a phone. But no cam phones will rival real cameras, which are used for professional photos. And if you believe that cam phones yield better quality than real cams you're just kidding yourself.

There are tests performed on every products before they hit the market, and any real professionals in photography will tell you that cam phones are for amateur photography, nothing more.

First off, this phone is a copy of other better phones out there. It just happens to come out sooner than some other better ones ie. SE C905 and the new phone from HTC pro for texting lovers. The camera boasts an 8MP cam but only comes with a LED flash, which is a total letdown. Second, this phone is NOT the first one out with 8MP like some morons put it. 8MP cams phones were already out a while ago, which were not available in some countries like yours. So, this Samsung phone is NOT "the first in the world" 8MP phone at all. Third, only get this phone if your wallet gets impulsive and stupid. The upcoming SE and HTC phones will put false rumors to rest once and for all. As for Nokia, they have dropped the ball on 8MP idea and focused onto other things they deem more important. And yes, 10MP on phones will be the highest standard on cell phones, at least for a while. You wouldn't want a bigger cam anyway as it would be more like a cam than a phone in your hand.

everybody is talking about the mp in the camera... nobody is even mentioning that it takes 1 min everytime you want access image and media files on a samsung... you press a button on a image and then have to wait for a day... terrible lagging in accessing phone memory on samsung phones... as even encountered by the review... and by the way... its the software that does most of the job in making it a 8 mp shot... it is impossible for such a small lens to get a real 8 mp shot... what about the same signature Pods and Tebs blaming people for being wannabes and imature when the person himself talks like a retard... he is probably exactly what he is describing other people as...

well, i think kodakmaster has a point...
if ever you've opened up a phone, and looked at the lense, you'll kinda agree.
but then again, as long as you have 1mp, you'll be able to blow the photo up to A4 right? even if, the quality is the same as a 5mp one, it's still good then.

BTW, I think this is an awesome phone.
Omnia's good, but this, I think is great...(yes I like Symbian better than WM)
I recon HTC and Nokia are both gonna be in trouble.

PS:sorry for my bad spelling, English isn't my first language...

i think what they should work towards is a 5 megapix with a better lens...although it would be chunkier......might have an advantage for people that likes taking pictures more with a phone on the side.....instead of the other way around...

noen the less pretty cool phone!

8mp camera, wifi, 8 to 16gb storage, large screen.... yummy... this is the phone i have been waiting for... hope the price won't be too high..

the 8mp photo quality is already proved by both GSM Arena and Mobile Review. So i believe its quite good. No need to argue.

podge, 21 Aug 2008@ KODAKMASTER "it doesn't really matter if you put a 20mp into the software.." why do you ... moreNot entirely true. The amount of pixels depends on two things, the image sensor and the processing software. If the sensor is 8MP and the software can only handle 4MP then you will get a 4MP image. The lens is irrelevant to image size, just to image quality.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970As a photographer I am sure you will agree with the statement "the best camera is the one you have with you". Having such a device always gives you the opportunity to capture a moment, which is surely what photography is all about?

@ KODAKMASTER
"it doesn't really matter if you put a 20mp into the software.."

why do you keep referring to megapixels being in the software? The amount of pixels is determined by the image sensor. I understand that this phone has a true 8 megapixel sensor and there's no "upscaling" involved. Yes, the quality of the image will also be effected by the lens, but the image still has 8 million pixels whether you like it or not. I'm really sick of all the pretend "professionals" on this site that are actually just pimply teenagers (and usually illiterate) crapping on about stuff they know nothing about! (and what "professional" photographer would call themselves Kodakmaster? Are you serious?
