Also if you are using Garmin then watch for the process called TSRAutoStart.exe. This background process is wasting away your battery life.

just select sms memory to SIM then delete all the messages which are stored in ur SIM. the blinking envelope icon will disappear.

Try to slide your phone halfway and try to check 1 by 1 those menu, power, selection keys and if those keys works with your phone slided halfway i'm pretty sure that it's time for you to replace your ribbon flex.
The keys on the front cover and keypads has different connections, that's why you wonder your keypads are working well and some of the keys on the front cover are malfunctioning, it's because the ribbon flex has torn due to uncountable sliding-up & down the front cover. That's the usual problem of slide-up & flip designed phones, so sooner or later ribbon flex will worn out. Changing your ribbon flex will solve the ff:
-the 12 keys on the front cover will function again
-front camera
-auto brightness sensor
-earpiece
-the 16M color LCD display will work again, no more black or white screen display.
I haven't changed my ribbon flex yet since i bought my innov8, i've been using this phone since april 2009. i've managed to reinfroced my flex to make more durable and last longer..^_^

Joseph, 07 Aug 2011Any1 here tried d i8510XXIJ2 firmware version?yes i tried it .it is good ,even it make the battery longer.
but i have another problem:my i8510s menu,power,and selection buttons and... dont work but other buttons like numbers and camera buttons work.did somebody has such kind of problems?
help me.

Yup! kelvin is right, in addition to that you can also use nokia BL-4C & Samsung L700 batteries as well, It has d same thickness with d original battery. d nokia BL-5C battery is little bit thicker about 1mm..
All-in-all i have 6 batteries on hand, 2 nokia BL-4C, 1 BL-5C, 2 Samsung L700 & 1 Samsung innov8 origanal battery..^_^
I rarely connect my phone to my usb charger whenever my phone runs-out of power, i jz replace my drained battery w/d fully charged one..^_^
I also bought 1 universal clip fast charger to charge my other spare batteries. ^_^
running out of power is not a prob on my innov8, in my case..^_^
Before i've charged my firmware my phone can only last for 3 to 4hrs w/heavy usage, 6 to 7hrs minimum usage..
Then i've changed my phone's firmware, flashed it w/ i8510XXIB2 firmware version. Now my phone can stand for 6 to 7hrs on max. usage, 12 to 14hrs on minimum.
Download & Install jbaktaskmanager in your phone, kill this 3 system app- screencapturer, screensaver & autolock..
Using the jbaktaskmanager application you can also increase the master audio volume of this phone, jz go to jbaktask app, press #, scroll up & look for audio test mode, then press m2-open's music player, play any music then go back to jbtask & select again audio test mode and tweak d system audio volume, change d db values..^_^
to increase your battery life span turn of d ff:
-theme effect
-auto brightness, set to lowest, power save on
-optical track pad
-switch to gsm network, if you're not subscribed to 3g connection
-wi-fi auto scanning, if your not using wi-fi connection..
I hacked my phone using hellox, intalled n-gage games, gba games, sega games, vnes games..^_^
this phone can read lot of audio & video codecs, unlike some phones..
I'm enjoyin' my innov8 to it's maximum potentials.. XD
For me definitely still 1 of the best phone out of the market 'till today, though it's almost 3yrs now since d 1st day it was released.
Still my innov8 Rockz!!!...

hey friends i recently got this phone from a friend it looks good same battery problem so i bought a nokia bl-5c battery and insert it into it,it works very well aand lasted for days. just give it a try and see results

mykamar, 02 Jul 2011i have to charge the battery everyday....for my previous handset i can do it in every 4-5 days... what do you expect from a good handset? ;D and you don't know the pain of my previous handset (u900) even though it WAS really good. . .

i love all innov8 functions, my brother just gave me a few days ago.. though it's years ago product, i think i dare comparing it to the latest handset:)
but i have a little problem... is it took hours to charge it? in my case it need 6 hours for fully charge it... i try to bought a new battery and a new charger still it took 6 hours to charge..
