rohit, 17 Oct 2009i'd like to add another thing here since a lot of u guys might be planning on getting this pho... morehi
i read your posts about the bugs in this phone... may i ask what exactly these bugs are? seems to be an amazing phone otherwise. thinking of buying it very soon.
Mo, 17 Oct 2009Honestly, phones from India are crap,I bought a few phones from there. They have crap firmware... moreAre you related with some sh*t works? How much money do you have that you can say 28000/- for a Cell Phone is CHEAP. And in SA it's price 60000/- ? Either you are full MAD or so stupid, get the HELL OUTTA HERE.
Honestly, phones from India are crap,I bought a few phones from there. They have crap firmware that's why it is so cheap. In South Africa it's double the price but apparently the phone has good firmware and performance. The phone costs around 60 000+ rupees.

the omnia HD, like any other phone (including the iphone) has quite a few bugs.
you can read the comment by DaWaBZ94 on this site:
i seem to find these bugs in the indian firmware too. but let me tell you that i was aware of them even before purchasing my HD. Anyway, this is just a word of caution. despite these shortcomings, in comparison to any other phone in the indian market, this phone's still the boss! :P

Some people have... moreand i forgot to mention, if u use just one hand to text, then u're in for quite a task with this one. that would take some serious getting used to and a nice long dexterous thumb!

about the size issue. believe me, at first i was shocked, rather overwhelmed, to see the size of this phone. i also own a SE W810i which i bought about 2yrs back. that looks like a little baby in front of this.
but then, the large display is just amazing if u'd really wanna watch movies or videos on a phone.
that apart, when you use it, u might find difficulty in reaching certain parts of the touchscreen - that is if u do not have a large hand or long fingers. i'm a 6 footer and have pretty big hands, so i do not find it a problem.
about carrying the phone around, yes, now that you might have an issue with if u're used to a small sleek phone which u wouldn't have ever felt in ur pant/jeans pocket. but then again, u can get used to it.. like now i dont even feel like it's a huge thing i'm carrying around..
consider you had to carry a camera, a phone and a gps device as separate items in that 1 pocket of yours, u'd have that pocket torn in no time!! ;) the HD would feel a whole lot better..
rohit, 16 Oct 2009Happy Divali to you too!
I paid a little under 30K as I was among the first few to buy it in ... moreYou are good advicer Rohit as you never seem to enforce your views on others. Some people have the habit over patronising their possessions and they take offense if their suggestions are not taken as they want. You are also right about the cons of waiting. In fact it is already happening with roumours of 3X optical zoom in next pixon 12 and the New Nokia 12 MP. So I guess...there is no end to waiting after all.
But specs aside; do u feel your Omnia is bulky in every day use...like when u roam the streets with it in ur pocket or otherwise. Coz its human nature that after the 1st 2 weeks of play & infatuation with the new gadget, one is likely to note the other things that might not be so cool (say the size). Believe me, I have seen all the You tube videos there are on this phone, but still it dosen't help if one has it NOT in his own hands
As far as it goes, I have no one in my knowledge that has an HD or even a sample. Even the biggest malls in Mumbai do not have a prototype or even a dummy so that I could take it in hand & have a feel. What they do is-come ome out with a packed box and expect me to buy it if I have to feel it LOL..
So that leaves me with u. So I believe over the next few days I would like to ask you some more behavioural questions that would not be linked with specs and the godly features.
Thanks agin for your participation.
mangesh, 17 Oct 2009HAPPY DIWALI GUYS, I owned this phone, first time i have samsung mobie, before that i used noki... moreHappy Diwali everyone,,,,,Mangesh i am planing to buy a new phone and i am confused b/w N97 and Samsung Omnia,,,,,could u pls tell me how is this phone better than N97,,,since u have used both

Did any owner of this mobile get the 24 fps. announced in HD video recording with the new firmwares ? thanks!
vbhv007, 15 Oct 2009Dear Rohit
I am very greatful that you took out your time and replied to my length question... moreHappy Divali to you too!
I paid a little under 30K as I was among the first few to buy it in bangalore. i guess there should be some divali offers happening in all the stores, so this would be the best time to purchase. About prices dropping after that, well, the prices of almost all phones fall in a matter of time.. the more u wait, the more it reduces. but by then, a newer (and probably better) phone might be launched, or atleast announced to be launched. so u'll want to wait to buy that one and when that phone's out in the market, a newer and better phone gets announced. and this continues.. so it's up to you.. if u feel this phone is good enough (feature wise) for you to retain for atleast 2 yrs (lesser if you're rich enough ;) ) then i'd say, go for it!
but then, let me warn you.. what u read in forums like these are opinions.. a matter of personal choice.. one's own likes and dislikes.. your perception of the phone might be entirely different (if you do buy it).. i say this as Rs.26K+ is quite a bit.. so spend wisely.. i would strongly recommend you find some1 who has the phone already and see if u like it.. i know that's pretty tough, but u cud try..
thus anybody know how much is this phone in the Philippines?
whats the difference between touch response of N-97, Omnia 2 and Samsung i890???
i've heared that this mobile doesn't Local firmware (philippines). You need to flash it to get the latest FW...
Has anyone already installed a full Skype program (not the "lite"version) on a i8910 Omnia HD? I intend to use my skype-out account thru wlan/internet when I am abroad.
