I've been going through the user opinions and reviews for a bit on this phone and so far the phone seems great, it seems to do everything I want but just need a couple of questions answered so i can decide on buying this phone once and for all 1) will this phone be released in the US anytime this year (unlocked)? 2) Does it still have the FM radio built in? All answers will be deeply appreciated Thanks

sampc, 02 Aug 2009Guys the GSMArena review is saying that this phone is not as good as expected. IT IS NOT SAYIN... moreI agree with you. I am getting this phone this week. I am not expecting this phone to be perfect but for sure I'm going to enjoy it.
Anonymous, 01 Aug 2009there's no stylus for omnia hd.. it has an AMOLED touch-sensitive screen... it only recognizes... moreHow do you use hand writing recognition if you don't use a stylus to write with,am just curious as i want a symbian phone with hand writing recognition,please help.
Guys the GSMArena review is saying that this phone is not as good as expected. IT IS NOT SAYING THAT THIS PHONE IS BAD.
So what if Samsung have made some changes to its specs. This phone still has the longest spec sheet ever. This is a question to all those who think that this phone is a failure: can you think of atleast one other phone with so many specs? No? I didn't think so.
I've had this phone for a month now and I have to say its nothing like any other phone I've used before. Ofcourse Symbian does not offer as much eye as the iphone. But the omnia hd is in a very different league compared to iphone. It depends on what you're looking for: is it a phone that has a fun to use user interface? or is it a phone that is as capable as a desktop computer of the early days?
As for the N97, it has a much slower processor, less RAM, worse camera and generally the user interface is much slower compared to omnia hd. I say this from personnel experience. Also the N97 will be less reliable because:
- Nokia has been cutting costs in making their phones reliable and last longer
- Omnia hd has no moving parts at all which means you dont have to worry about anything breaking. As long as you don't play basketball with your omnia hd, I'm pretty sure it'll last very long. It'll be interesting to see how long that sliding mechanism in the N97 will last.
As for the Satio, lets wait for it to release before we make a comparison all right?
To those who complain that HD video recording is not true HD resolution; you have the right to complain when there will be another phone on the market that will be capable of HD recording. For a feature that has never been on a phone before, I think its brilliant. If you're looking for something to record your next hollywood movie, just stop whining and get a proper camera.
Yes the phone does have a few glitches in its software. The phone is still in its infancy stages and S60 v5 software is still relatively immature. Every phone has teething problems in the initial stages. Give Samsung and Symbian some time and they will fix it.
Read the review…..shame they didn’t have the courtesy to review the extremely buggy Orange branded i8910 when it landed back in May! I know if they had, I would not have got the phone at the time. It’s a pretty lame review…especially the conclusion.
After months of trying to seek help from the support guys at samsungmobile.co.uk I finally called Orange. Apparently all Orange can do is fill out an online Samsung questionaire whereby a Samsung representive will hopefully contact me……fingers crossed
I can’t believe how badly the UK consumer has been treated by Samsung. We all know that Orange’s software is flakey but why Samsung UK could not and has not released the latest firmware update to all, via their website is what one can only describe as very bad form by Samsung. In my mind they shown nothing but contempt for all those early adopters. They advised me to take it to Samsung service center. Up on getting there I was told they would need to send my phone away?!?!?!?! and for up to 3WEEKS!!!!!!!! why did Samsung not tell me this before I went there……They really are out of touch with their customers and their service centres.
Why should we have to debrand our phones to get it working the way it was intended to in the first place. This not only invalidates any warrenty but again shows contempt to all those who showed faith in Samsung when the phone was initially released through Orange. Even over at Orange who are always extremely helpful, the support staff have not even had a hands on sniff of the phone…….So much for being able to provide support for something which Orange branded……you can’t help but laugh at Samsung and Oranges sheer ineptitude.
The issues I am having with the phone are as follows:
Camera settings not saving.
Audio when recording being of poor quality.
Battery de-charging very quickly through little or no use.
Calls disconnecting even when signal strength is high.
All I want is the phone that I should have had from the off. It’s akin to trying to drive a Ferrari without an engine. I don’t mean to sound bitter I just don’t like to be treated with the contempt I feel consumers like myself have been shown.
I hope things get better and soon.
Hope you find my moaning helpful.
People who use SD cards class 6 say they have not frame loss in HD videorecording. Anyone of you have experimented with these cards ?
can anyone tell me if the d1 recording on this phone runs at 30fps? is it better on worse then vga at 30fps like that on the n97, n86?
Satio Wins, 01 Aug 2009Galleries
The problem is that those corrections are only applied for the time the image is ... moreare you kidding me? Satio does NOT have an AMOLED screen and why would you need a 12MP more than 8MP? 8MP is not enough?
Other than 12MP camera advantage satio can try to blow with HTC or other crap out there..
I was so interested in buying this phone since the review posted.
But so confused now specially about the audio quality.
Music is so important for me, so could you please tell me how good is the sound quality via headphones(not necessarily the supplied headphones, but the sound coming of the headphone jack)?
Your kink info would be appreciated.
i believe this is the best phone in the world ... HD recording .. AMOLED screen.. (man. this is the best screen in the world.) 3g. 600 MGH processor .. 256 ram... 3.7" Gorgeous touch-sensitive screen with scratch-proof. .. only 12.4 mm thick!.. tv out.. 8 mp camera... and the best thing is that........ IT'S REALLY BEAUTIFUUULLLLLLL (L)(L)(L) i love it...
russ, 01 Aug 2009Does the phone come with a stylus compartment.there's no stylus for omnia hd.. it has an AMOLED touch-sensitive screen... it only recognizes fingers.
I had the N97 and now I have the Omnia HD.
N97 = 128
OMNIA HD = 256
N97 = 434 MHz processor (no graphics acceleration)
OMNIA HD = 600 MHz processor and graphics accelerator
N97 = 5 Mega pixels
OMNIA HD = 8 Megapixels
N97 = D1 Video 30 FPS
OMNIA HD = HD Video 20- 24 FPS
The N97 is a good phone, but the OMNIA HD is just in a class of its own. The video is not true HD but it really is about 2 times better than the Video on the N97.
Also the faster CPU and built in graphics accelerator make the OMNIA HD much faster than the N97.
The OMNIA HD also has 2 times the RAM of the N97.
They both run Symbian 5th edition, but it's a shame, because the OMNIA HD is capable of running something much more powerful. I hope they bring out some better apps for the OMNIA HD.
