well, now after some month waiting for the review its here with lots of disappointments.
i was hoping better results than the preview. The downgraded video quality is not forgivable.
Also i hoped i would see better sound specs which promised by the logo DNSe.
The histogram in the review clearly shows lack of bass and harsh trebles(just like the n95 both versions but abit better S/N ratio).
I can understand why GSM guys wait such a long time to post their review. they gave them so much time to fix the problems which became worse IMO.
Now i rethink about the N97. Cheaper, smaller, better audio, qwerty keyboard and lots of memory. Save for the slow cpu, less RAM and lack of graphic accelator chip.
The N97 LCD display is still look ok to me at least better sun legibility then the omnia hd.
so, befor do anything I have some questions:
Is the firmware upgradble via net on your own(like nokias)?
And would the problems be fixed with firmware upgrade?
Thank you so much
Anonymous, 31 Jul 2009DON'T BELIEVE GSM ARENA MAN they favorize iphone ,omnia HD is the best phone ever madeHmm, well, I suppose it is possible, but you have to admit that a lot of other people mentioned similar problem too. I know that audio/video quality and the video 24fps issues are common.
On the other hand, you may have a point. In the review, GSMArena said that the iPhone still had a superior screen, which blew my mind. Apple has got to have some wizardry going on if the iPhone's screen still manages to beat the i8910's 3.7in AMOLED display.
If you can provide an unbiased review, I will gladly read it, but at this point, the Omnia HD really is looking less appealing.
can anyone tell me if the d1 recording on this phone runs at 30fps? is it better on worse then vga at 30fps like that on the n97, n86?
What the hell! Is this a joke or what? The hd recording frame rate is appalling! 1st of all we cant transfer hd videos and second of all hd recording is a total disaster! I just hope that samsung will improve this and that the D1 recording is at 30fps, beating or equaling vga on n97,n86 and iphone.
The only thing that really worry me is: "In almost all the cases the framerate was variable and went below the promised 24fps giving the videos somewhat choppy looks" Could future firmware fix this problem or not anymore ??
What would be the price in India,8GB? I am expecting not more than 31-32K. It's in the upcoming section already,so when will it actually hit the stores? Any ideas will be appreciable.
i have been waiting for this phone for 4 months.i was a bit dissappointed after reading the review.bt still i am waiting 4 it.i love this phone very much.
I never impressed with iPhone.Never suggest lo spec iPhone. First m looking Symbian and then comparing specs.Using 5800xpress.Happy with it.Next change i8910HD or Satio.its pure business
I've been following development of this phone ever since it was announced on gsmarena, say about 6months ago? After viewing the recently posted HD videos that were recorded with the new firmware I have to say that I am truly disappointed with the resolution/quality of the video recording. Check out the previous HD recordings (old firmware) for yourself. Does anyone know if the new firmware allows you to revert back to the less intensive CPU hungry codecs when recording HD? I was really looking forward to purchasing this phone. Samsung tried their best as this phone is cutting edge, but seems that the 600MHz cpu is just not powerful enough to record HD.

Saurav, 30 Jul 2009Okay,so I was waiting for this phone from 25th May,the Day it got released under Orange. I was... moreyeah ... i know how you feel... i was disappointed by the review too... The plastic this i still can accept but it having slow response and lagging is so sad to hear. When they said that the S8300 was slow i was hoping that the HD would not have the same issue... Looks like i will have to reconsider again ... so tragic
I had so much hope for this phone, but after reading GSMArena's review, it seems there is some BS going on.
Seriously, sluggish browsing in *a gallery*? HD recoding dips below 24fps or is not actual fps? Audio/video quality issues? On a phone in which the primary feature is supposed to be multimedia/HD-related, how did Samsung allow these kinds of issues to remain?
Considering the type of phone the i8910 was supposed to be, I had expected a flawless multimedia experience at the very least, so it's disappointing to see that it doesn't fit the bill.
Meh, even though the review dampened my enthusiasm for the phone, I am still interested. Maybe I'll pick it up when it reaches a more affordable price.
