Bananaman, 25 Jun 2009I went into a phone shop today and they said samsung are stopping manufacture of the ommnia hd... moreA word of warning.
Never believe anything a phone shop employee tells you!
He probably had no stock and so wanted to sell you something different. Or perhaps they just aren't going to be selling the i8910 at all.
I went into a phone shop today and they said samsung are stopping manufacture of the ommnia hd!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whats that all about?
how is speakers quality and sound loaud?please compare with n95 or 5800
how is battery life?
had this phone for a couple of days now...
I have screen vibration turned on, which uses more power...
I got the phone, turned it on, and drained the battery charge used for testing (about 10 minutes worth of charge)... Charged it for it's full 10 hours... This finished at 5pm wednesday, it's now midnight thursday and i've been making calls, taking pictures, recording videos, and smsing a hell of alot, and bluetoothing all my info from my pc to my phone, all the stuff you usually do when you get a new phone and want to play with it... And it's only dropped 2 bars...
remember this is with bluetooth on, constant use, vibrations every single time i touch the screen.
Battery life is fine, make sure you go to 'options' in the main menu, and check all open apps and close them down.
audiosync is slightly out with HD video recording, one of it's flaws... Photo's are really good quality, colors are generally fairly bright and crisp...
touchscreens responsive and easy to use... Messages are a hell of a lot easier to write on this than the iphone's keyboard, also having the alphanumeric keypad, and handwriting recognition is a breeze...
No FM transmitter, but i've been downloading songs to my phone so i 99% sure i would rarely use it except to check sports scores on radio streams when i'm not at home anyway, so not important to me...
Overall, beautiful phone, great screen display, great responsiveness, battery life is fine, don't know why people are saying it's bad...
One thing i will recommend is - add your own ring and msg tones, default ones are terrible :P that's my only complaint of the phone and the audiosync issue...
Am looking for the firmware update to try it and see if it helps but as yet haven't downloaded/installed it.
Oh and the other problem is if you have Nokia PC suite installed, you'll have problems installing Samsung phone studio, as they're both Symbian S60 platforms, so you have to completely remove it before you can install and have a working version of samsung phone studio
Now, that there are 32GB cards widely available, it has become evident that this phone accepts them easily!
Actually, I've tried one myself and IT IS the Best phone around... no doubts about it.
Just wish phones weren't so expensive...
AT the current state of technology there are no serious reasons for selling phones at such high prices.
It's capitalism at its... worst!!!
Hi friends, have you notice there is little change in spec of this phone.
"Card slot microSD (TransFlash), up to 32GB"
Previously it was "up to 16GB".
Valentino, 24 Jun 2009You said in Portugal this comes with Ndrive. Is it free "for the rest of your life ?". I heard... moreN Drive, in Portugal has a lifetime license. I'm using my i8910 for a week now and N Drive works very well, comes whit a activation code inside the box, and after a few seconds your phone is ready to navigate to any point in Portugal and Spain. But I´m also using the MobileXt from Garmin whit a valid Life time license for Iberia and is also very good, almost better than N Drive. Despite all the critics that I´ve been reading in gsmarena for this forum, the major problem that I´ve found is the incapacity of using a stylus to operate, some screens have small buttons and gets hard to choose the correct options. The battery, lasts the same time as normal, one day but it should be considered that I make a very Hard use of the phone capabilities, the led screen is amazing, the video player is very good, and the music player is also good. The sounds in the video recording are not to good, but if you are recording in a not very noisy place it does the job. The camera it self, I think that it could be better, the pictures look a little bit blurry. because the colours get mixed on the edges. But in the end, is probably the best phone on the market, is very fast, and reliable.
Valentino, 24 Jun 2009You said in Portugal this comes with Ndrive. Is it free "for the rest of your life ?". I heard... moreJust to add that this software is quiet good and the real images is outstanding. Is like google earth, you know, you even can syncronize somethings to google earth :-)
Valentino, 24 Jun 2009You said in Portugal this comes with Ndrive. Is it free "for the rest of your life ?". I heard... moreYes Valentino, is for free always. If you check the ndrive site you can see that. In portugal the phone came with a card with ndrive software and one map for portugal and a code that i had to send a SMS through the phone to unlock the map, it's NOT like a subscription for limit of time. If i wanted to have more maps i have to buy them in the ndrive site, but is like it is very expesnive, because it's not. I hope i have answered your question.

Thx for your answer
Anonymous, 24 Jun 2009does anyone know if you can get faceboook on here?? ( this phone)You can have facebook, it even has a widget for it to access easily :-)
ZENATI, 24 Jun 2009really i don't know why samsung release this phone to some countries and miss others? this is ... moreI believe Samsung are trying to be tactical. Althogh this phone has been available in the UK for about a month, there is absolutely no advertising for it because they are still plugging earlier phones such as the Tocco ultra. This is probably why it has not been released in other countries yet, purely because samsung dont need to release it yet because of strong sales of previous devices. I am sure that as soon as Samsung want to start plugging the i8910, we will see the start of a marketing campaign in the UK, and you guys in other countries will hopefully get a release date. Although the handset is available in some countries i still do not believe it has been officially released.
What puts me off this phone is that the OLED screens are too hard to read in the sun, no keyboard and just does not seem to have the S/W support like Nokia...
