I had noticed on a couple of occassions that my battery seemed to drain rather quickly. However, the majority of the time the battery life is incredible!
Although obvious, remember that if you use many functions of the phone throughout the day, the battery will inevitably run out quickly. Also As someone mentioned earlier there are several things you should disable to help maintain battery. Also remember if you are using the phone outside then the sensor will make the screen brighter. This could also impact on the battery. And again as mentioned earlier it is imperative that you charge the battery for at least 8 hours before initial use. I would suggest running your battery to empty and then charging it for this amount of time with the handset turned off. Hopefully this will remedy your problem.
Personally i charge my phone every night anyway so battery life is not an issue. Having said that, by the end of the day i always seem to have full battery!
Bearing in mind how powerfull the handset actually is, i think the battery life is amazing!
Key, 12 Jun 2009I have to say that unbranding this phone is the way forward. The touch is good but obviously n... moredon't hink so. Did you charge your battery for about 10 hours for the first time when you got the phone??
If not, then this is the reason why youir battery sucks:)
Read the user manual - for the very first time before using your phone you have to charge it for at least 8-10 hours but not more than 14 or something like this.
If yopu do this then your battery should have at least 2 days life with a normal/hard use.

the thing is that I have heard very different stories - one friend debranded and unlocked his HTC Tytn from Orange and when his camera gone faulty they replaced it with a new one, so warranty wasn't voided? But maybe they simply didn't notice that the phone was unlocked and debranded?:) lol
On other hand, from what I heard from other people who work in mobile phones' business etc., they say that the warranty would be voided...
Anyway, thanks for you comments.
Will see how it goes after I receive my Omnia HD, should arrive this morning:)

The battery life is great, do some searches or read more of the posts here. Deactivate the Blue-tooth scanning, WIFI scanning etc.
I hate branding by phone companies but if you unbrand your phone then it goes wrong then you have the worlds most expensive paperweight as your warranty is invalid and the manufacturer will not repair the phone, for the sake of a You Tube and Facebook widget it is not a risk I am willing to take

Btw, I find the touch screen capabilities of this phone in some ways better than the iPhone. The sensitivity is almost the same. I used to own the 2G and 3G versions btw. Another good thing about this phone is its haptic feedback. As regards applications, the preinstalled apps for this suffice my needs. Yes there are probably thousands of iPhone apps but most of them are either too expensive to be very useful or simply nonsense.
iangabinete, 10 Jun 2009I finally got hold of this amazing phone. Here's a personal review: Pro's 1. Is there any differences?
I have to say that unbranding this phone is the way forward. The touch is good but obviously nowhere near compared to that of the iphone...and the applications are very limited to this aswell.
It is a very good phone to have so far and flashing the firmware has made it even better as the Orange firmware sucked.
The battery on the other hand sucks. Battery life is sooo bad, most of the time i wake up in the morning to find my phone has switched off because the battery has died.
Vidas, 11 Jun 2009man, where did you get the software for debranding? Is this the soft that I saw on ebay for £3.50?I have used debranding for n95/n96 etc and on the site it said you are taking that firms software off and unlocking the device and its legal..Most people do it to get software updates that the flipping branded fone companys somehow forget to dish out..Why should we put up with it,,fair enuf put orange or voda icons and wallpapers etc on the device and make the homepage your own portal but you go messing with the software..I think therefore that the companys are messing with devices and its them breaking the rules not the consumer..If samsung/se/nokia bring out an update for their devices why should we be restricted from that update because of operaters, that stifling the device of its true potential and should be illegal..Fed up with the lot of em thats why most of my fones are sim free,,and at a cost...
Anonymous, 11 Jun 2009i have just debranded my orange i8910,no more orange crap on phone, well happyman, where did you get the software for debranding? Is this the soft that I saw on ebay for £3.50?
guys, does anyone knows for sure if debranding and/or unlocking the phone will void its warranty?
(I'm talking about Omnia HD from Orange in this case).
i have just debranded my orange i8910,no more orange crap on phone, well happy
It's pi$$ing me off too. I don't think anyone knows which other networks it's coming to. I would like to see it on tmobile because they have the best data plans. Might be tempted if it's on 02 too, the're not too bad. But orange, no thank you!!!!
I'm fed up of tmobile putting their crap firmware on phones, they ruin htc phones! Really hoping this will come to tmobile without any software changes by tmobile.
Anonymous, 10 Jun 2009can anybody tell me how the speakers are, is there another phone you can compare to like the n... moreTry Samsung INNOV 8. Sound quality is definitely better than N95. Of course N95 is louder than INNOV 8 but with distortion. I had both these phones & am in a position to comment. Give me two weeks time for me to comment on Omnia HD's sound quality.
ding, 11 Jun 2009Is the unit you bought was sealed, does it have FCC seal? I just want to make sure that this is... moreWell it is not sealed when I bought it. If this is a clone from China then the Chinese deserves to be worshipped by creating such a very good clone! Hahaha! AFIK, the original has a Chinese clone now. The Chinese are really geniuses! I'm proud to have some of their blood! Hehehe! Your question though implies that I might be incapable of recognizing an original from a fake. Thank God I have the resources to change phones at least every 3 months. My last phone which was a pixon was only 2 weeks old when I found a way to acquire an Omnia HD. So I am somehow proud to say that I know how to look for details to tell if a phone is fake or not. This phone will certainly stay with me for more than 3 months because it certainly rocks. By the way, the screen is still visible under direct sunlight because of the ambient light sensor. The screen is very vivid that it can survive the power of its screen gloss.
ding, 11 Jun 2009hi! Is the unit you bought for 28k is 16gb? or 8gb?It's the 8GB at 28k. I bought an extra 16GB micro sdhc which is already too much for my memory needs. Hehehe!
oled is extremely hard to see in sunlight. no matter what phone has it, thats the only reason i dont like it
Anonymous, 11 Jun 2009lol~~its a total different thing~~a symbian multimedia camera phone, and a winmo. and just for... moreMan, just keep your "HD" 0.5 with you, and your sacred Symbian OS.
When you come next to an Omnia or an Omnia 2 owner, don't mention that you possess an "Omnia HD" because it is a pure laugh!
The "Omnia HD", as you wish to call it, has never been the first neither been the last. It is not just a joke, but simply a fact of bare accomplishment with a complete wrong name.
However, you can say that you have a Samsung with Symbian OS and HD video recording only. That would simply be fine.
