Hey guys! I just spoke to someone at Samsung South Africa and she said that they've cancelled the launch of the Omnia HD here. Can anyone confirm this or add any insight? Really sucks man... I would give my left pinky finger for this phone!
Valentino, 04 May 2009I understand that you sustain omnia will be ~500 euros but we don't have a price for N97. A co... moren97 will be 550 Euros, look at the official site of n97, its about 700 USD.
The battery that you are talking about is the Prototype battery(yes final hardware but prototype battery). No one still has the Final battery for OmniaHD.
Im am sure that it will last at lease 3-4 days in standby, 2 days in normal usage.
Anonymous, 04 May 2009Go To some online stores, you can preorder OmniaHD for 500 euro (in UK) and it will be comming... moreI understand that you sustain omnia will be ~500 euros but we don't have a price for N97. A confirmed one. And it is in vain if the battery lasts 2 days instead of 1 and 1/2 (30% more for amoled) if you don't see what's on the screen in the sunlight :( I am not fond of Nokia, I'm just trying to decide and not regret when talking about ~500 euros.
Anonymous, 04 May 2009www.samsung.com/uk shows Omnia HD using metal cover that site is outdated.. it is already confirmed that it is using a glossy plastic.. look it even said that omnia has 65K Colour TFT Screen
only thing that is tricky here is the battery life of samsung couse i dont relly think it can stand over more than 24h with that screen,i think it will be the same thing like inovv8

-search some videos from youtube, and you'll its supports TV-out cable
-Go to allaboutsymbian or phonearena and read there latest reviews, you can see that it is capable of handwriting recognition.
-search in google, and see than OmniaHD can support up to 32Gb of memory stick.
THE preview of GSM arena about omniaHD is too old.

If you click on http://www.gsmarena.com/glossary.php3?term=display-type you will see that capacitive does not support handwriting recognition, only resistive ones. Tv out for Omnia HD is not confirmed yet. I agree with you about slow processor from N97. Omnia has 8+16 or 16+16 gb. We don't know the prices yet. But thanks again.

-OmniaHD is Capacitive and HAS writing recognition
-OmniaHD has TV-Out for nonHD/HD TVs via Cable just like nokias
-32gb of N97 is worthless with its SLOW processor, while OmniaHD can have a total of 48gb, 16gb+32gb(memory card)
-OmniaHD will release earlier and it is cheaper in price
-OmniaHD has faster processor than N97
I prefer OmniaHD
