kara, 05 Jul 2011The battery life is terrible, it says standby is like 750 hours, uhh...no, not even close. It'... moreBy "stand by" the accurate definition I think it would be, No apps open whatsoever (Like anti-virus) your 3G off, and not txting or calling at all. Which is imposible for not to do any of these things, so yeah. But pretty much every Smartphone or Android based ones, baterry are lasting around that much of time, its a BIG cons on these new phones, cause you have to be watching the battery or caring your charger for your car, usb or power supply. I have an Xperia Mini 10 the battery last at most 5hrs or so; and a HTC Inspire 4G which it last 7hrs
The battery life is terrible, it says standby is like 750 hours, uhh...no, not even close. It's more like 6 hours if you are lucky.
Best Rom for this rom is Fasty , incredible battery life and incredible speed.I tried 2.3.3 and other custum roms but this one is the best.(can be found in XDA here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125136 )
for all who have problems with the battery of the captivate, download and install fasty rom (you can find in xda).It will give you crazy battery life without any problems or decrease in performance ( personal testing and users reviews)
I originally upgraded by Blackberry to the Motorola Bravo. When I talked to the rep from my service provider I asked two questions. 1: Will it work with my Cox email account? I was told yes but the truth is NO it does not work with my Cox email. Question 2: Will it sync with my Outlook on my computer? I was told yes. The truth is NO. There were apps that would do it but after the trial version it only synced my pictures. No emails, contacts or calender. I called my provider and really pitched the bitch and now I am getting the Samsung i897 Captive. So far I'm reading good things. I am now asking you, the consumer community 1:Will it work with my Cox email and will it sync with Outlook? Any info would be great.

Anonymous, 24 Apr 2011this phone is garbage! my sister and i have had it for about 5 months now and have had to have... morewell if you drop your phone or don't take care of it properly it will of course have issues with it!
I absolutely love my Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. The only thing I can really say that I am unhappy with is the short battery life. You can download apps to help with this such as battery doctor, juice defender, and advanced task killer which kills those programs that are consistently running in the background. I absolutely adore Android and would never go with another OS (Operating System). Most of the applications are free and the ones that aren't are very cheap. The phone works great, downloads are fast, gps that comes with it without a fee is awesome, the fact you can wifi as well is a big seller in my books. I have had my phone for months and haven't had a problem with it. I would recommend this phone to anyone and give it a 9/10!!!!! (-1 for the battery life)
I have intermediant shuttown problem on this phone while battery is full charge. Never happen if it connect with a charger.
The battery is fine as I change one already. I never root on this phnoe still Andorid 2.1

Pros: Good/decent phone, perfect size very slim, awsome screen antiglare/sharpness/colors/brightness, good camera and camcorder 720p comparable to point and shoot cameras but no flash, semi/fast app launch, love the andriod home screen and widgets, games run fast/smooth
Cons:heats up under heavy use also when charging, less heat running froyo 2.2, batt life doesnt last all day with heavy use, email app no push, email no copy and paste which really sux, android copy and paste txt select blue arrow doesnt always pop up, no spell check incase of errors and I suk at spelling lol
I'd give the phone a 3.8 out of 5 because of usability and batt, I'm a heavy email user, also would perfer a flash on camera to double as a handy flash light when necessary, with such an advance phone samsung should have aimed at perfecting the phone vs production/pricing so thats my opinion hopefully this helps
