No offence but what the c*&p are you talking, Symbian has less than 900... morefor your information, N8 HAS gorilla glass and can do everything you just mentioned, it can play divx/xvid out of the box too which not all androids play it.
anyway, it's nice phone but as always no secondary camera and the GPRS just class 12 not 33 with its camera only 5mp

IF lG optimus one is getting a update to 2.3 then its a matter of time that it will be announced for Captivate as well ...as this has much better hardware to go with the ...

imo i897 looks more chic than i9000
will definitely go for i897 instead of i9000

Go for i897 since it has below advantages
1) gorilla glass display
2) Design is like armani model
Though both have same technical specifications the strudy built of i897 will make difference which galaxys cant give

No offence but what the c*&p are you talking, Symbian has less than 90000 apps, but android has more than one million apps now,also in symbian you cant sync google calendar and mobile calender as in Android, do you have any idea what the Android is?
With nokia N8 you cant use many apps and the only advantage is camera and music player, avi files are not played by N8, also N8 is not having gorilla glass display, glass display has very big effect on viewing text and videos(its the reason why all iphones having glass display).
you can take calls,listen music,watch some videos and play 30 to 40 games,sync gmail and other you can do these with N8, with android you increase these like many times, hundreds of games, many financial,travel,productivity,multimedia,games apps are there that too free version.
Why would a person who tasted this much goes to limited and very irritating symbian.
You may be nokia fan but android has many advantages compared to symbian, please use a android phone before comment anything.

I came here from the Nokia forums of gsmarena and I would like you guys to consider buying the Nokia N8 instead of this crap with terrible lag and gps issues. If you guys have any doubts about the Galaxy S please take your time and get to know the wonderful phone that is the N8. IMO, it is way better than this Captivate and it doesn't have gps issues or lags. Best of all, it's running symbian 3 which is better than android.

Best place to buy this phone is from AT&T. You can get it for $500 USD. Now that's good pricing.

I get 5 to 10 meters gps accuracy, takes 10 sec or less to get a lock! My capivate is rooted, with froyo 2.2 installed from DG cognition http://www.ponack.net/designgears/index.html
This phone is just amazing, pretty fast, gorgeous screen, very good 720p video recording, Android is just the best OS out there, there's no restriction!

That seems to be difference But should ... moreI have i896(same as i897. exactly same device but for Canada.) and ThinkFree Office is pre-installed. (If i897 doesn't come with any Office suite, you can search and download on Android Market. (this is not a feature phone. you can download and install everything you want!)

KS, 16 Nov 2010Any radio function on this phone? at specification show that there is no radio features, so sad..Just download the fre radio app from Android Market and that will be fine.....Android Market has everything....Just search through it!

Captivate definitely works in Australia. I'm using Virgin and I can call easily, no problem.
