I have had 2 Captivate galaxy s phones within 3 weeks and am going to get a different cell. Battery life isn't very good, MANY dropped calls, was unable to answer the phone a couple times, callers couldn't hear MANY times, callers also would call it would ring twice the either dead air or busy signal. Not worth the hassle anymore

I used a full charged (100%) phone (it took 3 hours to get it there from a 4% juice) only for calls to check the actual's claimed by Samsung. I turned off all internet activity, background data, 3G network, animations, min screen brightness and didn't even text. I received only 2 calls and called out rest of the times. The total "standby plus calling time" for which the phone lasted was 43 hours which had 11 hours 43 mins(92% of battery use out of the 96% i had consumed before started charging it again) of total voice calls and 1 hour 37 mins (6% of the battery use out of the 96%) of display use which i guess again includes the time display is ON when you dial the numbers, hang up etc during the calls..
that's cool i guess..
but my NOKIA E72 does better (sorry to compare to way diff phones, but i am a HUGE fan of the way NOKIA phones' batteries last!!!). A full charge gets me through to about 38 hours with 11 hours of talking, texting, alarms, incoming calls ringing, email checking 10 times a day, occasional Google search.
The only diff here i believe is the high powered samsung processor (1Ghz over Nokia's 600 Mhz)
does anyone else have a problem with there camera.....i get camera fail alot and will onlt take about 2 out of 10 pictures

I myself managed to get 9 hours of battery life out of it, which is actually pretty good for a smartphone, but to do so, I basically had to make the phone ugly as hell. I set the background to pure black (because the super AMOLED screen supposedly saves more energy with that), turned off bluetooth/wifi/etc, turned off all animation, and set brightness to lowest possible.
Isn't the Super AMOLED screen, Android, and the Hummingbird processor all supposed to be great at saving energy? The iPhone 4 (which has equal specs) smashes this phone in battery life.
Meh, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if not for two things: (1) The fact that there is no toggle to switch from using 3G to 2G, which would save a huge amount of battery, and (2) the fact that this phone takes like 3-4 hours to fully recharge.

reserved for Samsung's Galaxy S
devices, which are hit pretty hard
with bad battery consumption. The
test reaffirms Motorola as the
undisputed leader in Android. It has
clearly mastered the OS
infrastructure and has been able to
create phones with good
ergonomics and marketability.
only thing is when i check online for the 19000 battery everyone i find is lithium ion.
The battery is not that bad. I was using one at partial life and testing the Hd recording, trying to get wifi, and surfing the web for the main part of the couple hour period and didn't get low battery til the end. When you use so many features it will be drained. Yes try to get a li poly one deffinately. Also just have a back up and u will have more than enough juice. my only complaint is one speaker that is not to loud
Thanks Erasto, i got one today and will see how long does the battery last. i checked other places on the internet as well. The other guys too say the same thing as you do but the Vibrant battery is very very bad.
Paul, 02 Sep 2010Can any user let me know as to the exact talk time achieved and a throw some light on the batt... more i m assuming you just need a LI PO battery as in the i9000 or captivate the vibrant has a LI-ION battery. I am going to find the same out tomorrow if the LiPo battery is of the same dimensions or not
