you can unlock sim for use on ANY network on these phones with a free app in playstore. search for sgs unlock tool. there is a option for unrooted phone but didnt work for me, i already had root permission anyways but it works flawlessly, less than a minute. hope that helps get you on at&t

taniya, 29 Jan 2013hi can anyone tell me whats the best upgrade i should do to keep my phone smooth. please reply If you know how to flash your rom, the best version of Android for this phone is Jelly Bean 4.2.1 from slim roms. If you don't have your phone rooted you'll need it to be rooted. http://www.slimroms.net/ for the rom. And if you need a step by step for rooting/upgrading go to http://www.xda-developers.com/ they have step by step tutorials. I have the i897 running JB 4.2.1 and it's great.
