I did the factory reset and wondered if anyone knows if there are settings at that stage that turn the market adds off or on as a default setting. I can't remember myself as was preoccupied, and i am not keen to reinstall all my back up apps again to find out. GB runs fine, except now I have one market APP on my homescreens, and another with a larger market widget. ...
the thing is I can't get the market adds to show, have selected for adds/notif through market settings, and have background data allowed.

To be fair to dzoni86, I think he was asking if the Galaxy S had the same GPU as the Desire.
To answer his question, the Desire has an Adreno 200 GPU but the Galaxy S has a PowerVR SGX540 GPU which is far superior to the one on the Desire.
Cheers.

You can still perform a factory reset.
When Icecream Sandwich arrives you'll most likely have to use Odin to update the phone, unless of course Samsung release JVS officially.
Cheers.

Well actually i did not perform a factory reset.... when i flashed the jvs all of my apps n msgs along with the contacts of my phone were deleted so i assumed a factory reset was not needed.... the only thing which was left was the data on the 13gb external memory of the phone.... hmm maybe thats the issue i'm facing.... Would performing a factory reset at this stage help or should i just wait for Ice Cream Sandwich?

My Quadrant average is about the same at 1500-ish but to be honest, those scores are pretty meaningless. What actually matters is if the phone shows visible lag or not. Mine does not and is quick and responsive. If your phone is noticeably slow and laggy there's some other underlying cause.
Did you perform a factory reset after you flashed to JVS? It's considered best practice to do a reset after each upgrade to remove anything left over from previous firmwares.

Well i am facing a bit of lag issues.... i used launcher pro recently and sometimes i feel that it lags a bit... also when i play a graphic intensive game like Real Football 2011 i feel there is definitely some lag that i see.... also i heard that installing a lag fix helps in improving quadrant scores as well.... i am currently getting an approximate score 1050 every time i check and i have seen people reporting scores of around 1500-2000 after using a lagfix....
and has anyone tried the cyanogenmod 7.1 on their phones? if they have then could u tell me what all improvements u see when compared to stock roms? and yea my current firmware is a rooted JVS i.e a 2.3.5 so after flashing cyanogenmod rom will my phone still be rooted or i will have to root it again?

This is absolutely normal for a new device. What you need to do is to use it for a couple of weeks to give the battery chance to calibrate properly.
You also need to turn off non essential functions like auto synchronization, packet data (when not needed), live wallpapers plus various other things. You will get to understand these things over time.
I easily get two to three days of moderate use from a single charge.
All the best.

Hi,
I got this phone few days back. The BIG and Main issue is Battery Life. The battery life is too bad and comes for max of 12hrs if i make calls and listen to music for 2 hrs. If I put on standby it comes for a day if u r lucky.
My sincere advice is not to go for any this device if u r putting huge money on this battery less device.
