You must find out from your local Samsung supplier if the latest Samsung Kies file is released. Or on your local website. Like Samsung.co.??
In South Africa it is .za in Aust it is .au in NewZealand it is .nz
From this latest file it is easy as pie, just click and follow straight forward instructions, like proceed.
This whole exercise should take about only two minutes and under build number you will see Gingerbread
But you must have the LATEST Kies file

I want to upgrade my Galaxy S phone firmware from android 2.2 Froyo to android 2.3 gingerbread or 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 any gingerbread version that has been released by Samsung.
But since I'm from middle east, I connect my mobile phone through Samsung Kies using many versions (v1.5 and v2.01) and the program tells me there is no update found, so what can I do to get gingerbread?
please any one who upgraded his mobile phone or flashed it with custom rom tell me what to do.
It is the 4th week for me using the galaxy S.
So I need someone to tell me an easy step by step what to do to get android 2.3 gingerbread (The offical one by samsung) and what will I lose if I installed custom roms knowing that I haven't done anything with the original software nor I didn't root it. (Nothing is done with the software so if there a step before upgrading please share it with me), Can I install the samsung official update for the firmware to make my phone 2.3 or there are some firmwares that are not released by samsung which can do the same job.
I need some one to tell me which upgrade should I go for it the official one by samsung or another one, because I don't know and I'm new is the android world
My current Firmware version is 2.2
Baseband Version I9000JXJPD
Kernel Version 126.96.36.199 root@SE-S606 #89
Build Number FORYO.JPJPF
Thanks in advance and I would be very grateful for helping me update my phone.
AnonD-14818, 24 Jul 2011which is better when compared with ACESgs is better. Look at the specs. Better all round. The galaxe ace is a mid range phone, the sgs is a top of the range smartphone.
Just let it go mate; he's tying to wind you up.
Don't let him do that, we all respect you for the help you've given us.

Riya, 23 Jul 2011Can Samsung Galaxy S support for SKYPE????Yes, sir! it does support Skype.
I recently upgraded to this model. This is my 4th Samsung but alas I am having permanent software problems since my 3rd day I had the phone. Says "lost Directory" on SD card and and all data is gone. Been in 4 times and they replaced a PC board but still giving hassles. Do I have a bad phone or just a DUD phone???
AnonD-2183, 23 Jul 2011dude i'm 100% suer that u have never seen omnia hd camera, i've used n8 and i8910 at the same ... more@ Slayheart.
Sorry my good man, but the i8910 HD doesn't even come close to the N8 when talking about the camera. First off there is a 4 Mega pixel difference, then there is the bigger sensor on the N8 ( the biggest of any camera phone in fact ). Not to mention the N8's Xenon flash versus the i8910's LED. Xenon wins there.
I will eat my words if you can provide a web link that demonstrates the i8910's camera is better than the N8's.
In the meantime visit the following site for a comparison of the N8 versus the i8910, Panasonic TZ-10 and a Nokia N82.
What you may be getting confused with is the i8910 will apply heavy post processing to the shots to artificially make them look better. The N8 does not post process so the shots look more natural.

Unfortunately the Nokia N8 has taken the crown as the best camera on a mobile ... moredude i'm 100% suer that u have never seen omnia hd camera, i've used n8 and i8910 at the same time and i can say proudly that n8 camera is totally fail compare with i8910 omnia HD..
i'm missing my omnia hd just for camera..
i have to sell i8910 just for symbian OS, otherwise i love i8910..
campretty, 20 Jul 2011can anyone help me how i can make my battery last for long..i just bought samsung galaxy s 190... moreI just sent a long post about this. Oh well looks like my cheap nokia 2330 is being tempremental. Install screen filter. The app when pressed turns brighness on/off. First of all Turn the app on, then bring down the drop down menu screen in home screen(just swipe down from top). Change dimness in the dropdown screen through the screen filter app. Then toggle it on/off wherever u have the app. I have mine set to homescreen(settings as i said are in the drop down screen). Install netqin booster.. It has many tips about battery and is useful. Go to settings - accounts and sync - Turn off auto sync and backround data if desired. Also set phones brightness to low, and screen shut down time to lowest, or desired.
