AnonD-2275, 04 Jun 2011what's the CSC of the Gingerbread firmware available in the Philippines? was it JV9, JV6, JV5 ... moreHi BlueOrange...I hope you still remember me (I was the nube who you helped to do a manual flash for the first time).
I updated my SGS via Odin (just this morning) and also came from JVO. The files for DXJV9 (from both samfirmware.com and xda-developers) indicated JV9 for all three components - PDA (DXJV9), Modem (DXJV9) and CSC (OLBJV9).
Just a heads up - I initially used the single file from samfirmware to update the phone but had problems. The Phone was stuck on the GT-i9000 screen and won't boot up to the S logo. Luckily, the bootloader was already loaded (or maybe it was not yet touched) and so I was still able to go back to download mode and re-flashed JVO. After this, I used the three files instead from xda-developers and followed their specific (special) instructions in flashing DXJV9 - the three files are to be used with 513.pit (along with repartition). Once this is done, some errors will still pop-up during the installation stage but after booting up and then reflashing with just the CSC file, everything will be okay.
For the last 10 hours, no problem has popped up in my phone and everything is working quite nicely. You can read more on the specifics of the flashing from their site but I think you are probably updated already with the subject since you're the master! :)

I swear my phone was acting like a schizophrenic off its meds when it was on FROYO, now its so much better. and Yes after having this phone for more than 6 months I have to say it continues to rock the awesomeness outta every other phone. By far, I have never been as satisfied with a phone, this is the best!
Hello, 03 Jun 2011"Why bother updating with Kies ?" Simply because with Kies everything in your pho... moreNothing to lose if you don't want them to. Wipe or No Wipe will do the job. So choose! I flash like, 3 times a week with nothing removed. So yeah...with Kies is OFFICIAL but damn...i'm not gonna wait for that. Try some dudes out there and you'll donate them, i'm sure... :D
AnonD-8770, 03 Jun 2011Do we have 2.3 in the Philippines?Yes...we already have it based from samfirmware.com (Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread - DXJV9). I can't say anything about Kies because I'm coming from DXJVO (European firmware)so in case it doesn't appear in Kies, just flash it via Odin. Don't go to the stupid service centers (they will say that it's not available just like my experience when froyo first caame to the philippines).
Hello, 03 Jun 2011"Why bother updating with Kies ?"
Simply because with Kies everything in your pho... moreYes.. it's the only advantage of updating through lies... anyway we can back those messages, contacts and applications ....
I mean for kies u have to wait too long until it's arrive in yr region....
Hello, 03 Jun 2011"Why bother updating with Kies ?"
Simply because with Kies everything in your pho... morewrong, flashing official firmwares using ODIN will not erase all your contacts, messages, apps, etc. just flash the firmware w/o repartition & you will retain all of your contacts, messages, etc.
apps, messages & contacts can be easily backed up & restore using third party apps anyway
Praveen_1221, 03 Jun 2011Sorry for hitting you like a fake user. I agree with your dislike points and at the same time ... moreHello Praveen .i forgot to mention 1 more thing .the best live wallpaper of Eclair if u used eclair . was the ocean waves . (yellow waves with lightning effect) that is also missing from gingerbread.
Though it is also missing from Froyo but u can install it on Froyo.
While trying to install it on Gingerbread I failed.
So sorry once again for not liking gingerbread.
I personally like more speed but these lve wallpapers are killing . they give such relaxing and refreshing effect .
White and black battery covers are the only difference in white and black Galaxy-S editions .
The white isnt available easily if u want one ill tell u a way out.So buy paying for one ull be able to carry two colours.
wHITE LOOKS sexy...
Thanks mate .
If u or Any 1 finds the way to install the BEACH AND OCEAN WAVES LIVE WALLPAPER ON GINGERBREAD. please HELP!!!!
Cambodia sgs , 03 Jun 2011Well why bother with the kies.? Just go and flash it with Odin...
I definitely agree... all ... more"Why bother updating with Kies ?"
Simply because with Kies everything in your phone is still there after updating. If you do it yourself with an update program you will end with a phone like you just bought it, all your stuff gone (messages, contact, programs, settings...).
