Ahh, so that's why!
The Product Code does indeed finish in CPW, so now I now.
I updated Kies to v2.0.0.1104_11 before trying, so it must be a case of wait and see.
Thanks for the info.

Its the 3 lettered code in brackets after the firmware version in kies. Yours may say CPW, in which case the update isn't ready yet. If the product code says XEU you should be able to update. Try updating kies first. Then check again.
All the best.

Strange, (seeing as she bought her SGS from Carphonewarehouse in the UK, so it is an unlocked model), I thought it would have the update, but it hasn't yet.
[deleted post]Yep. Having NEE as your product code is the reason you have Gingerbread.
All the best.

It seems you are right in your assumption. I have looked at several forums about the battery issue and almost all of them agree with what you say.
Thanks.

I didn't mention anything about calibrating the battery as you had already instructed him on how to do that, and it would have been rude of me to tell him the same thing.
All the best.

Can anybody tell me which is better galaxy s or galaxy ace? :)
Thanks for the advice Guys.
I went onto Appbrain.com and searched for 'Battery Calibration', and found an app by the same name.
It states that it removes the batterystats.bin system file and the OS creates a new one. It actually worked when I tried it. Magic !

The battery is designed to do that as a safety measure. If you repeatedly try to force it to stay at 100% it can cause the battery to die a horrible death. So, once it has fully charged and then immediately drops to 98% don't worry about it, it's fine.
