I have installed official Android 2.3.3 using Odin from http://www.samfirmware.com/ and I have rooted and lagfixed, converted to ext4, thanks to Chainfire http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
I now get the quadrant-score 1578 and it feels faster than ever before. :)
this samsung phone is great. i mean without doing anything in the phone.. i really love galaxy s
Bought Galaxy s before 2 days. its a 16gb model. and some how its running froyo out of the box which is cool :) since i belong to middle east there is not Market app available but i did some hacking and got it working (still its not downloading anything from the market but thats software issue)
so far it has been a very nice experience although its been just few days. i was waiting for arc and Arc got released at the same time with same price but when i looked both and held both of them in my hand. i some how ended up buyin Galaxy s.
its colors are really apealing to the eyes. you woudlnt want to turn ur face away from such cool screen. i read in alot of reviews that plastic back is a finger print magnet plus it gets scratches easily so i bought a silicon case to cover that up. but because of gorilla glass there is no worry about the front :)
camera is good. not the best but its good. sure Arc would be leading all the way in ANDROID world i belive the best camera so far, i saw the poor result of Lg and Atrix.. worst....
I do miss flash. but im so surprised that i have bought approx 1 year old tech but it dosnt feels old in any way.. its super dooper cool. Swype is excellent.. even without swype the keyboard is awesome :) i love typing it since i dont use english much in my texting.
i couldnt figure out PARLINGO so im running ebbudy which is also one of the best IM's out there.
2 thins i really miss in this beauty is.. Flash and Indicator light like what we have in HTC desire. if u miss a call or sms... Wifi works fast internet speed is really very good. although i do feel little hick ups in the over all browsing function its not 100% smooth it has small hangs here and there but very small and very rare.
I must say that this 2010 Cell phone is no doubt still 2011 proof :) Dual cores are the hot cake of this year but sure it will take time for there prices to settle down upto next year as at that time everyone will be looking for quad core phones :) but since then i am feeling very happy and cofident about my decision :) i will use it upto it lasts itself :) i wont be changing it for a dual core for now ,... no way...
just 1 last complain to samsung people.. WHY YOU GUYZ HAVE REMOVED MARKET FROM MIDDLE EAST PHONES.. i mean why ? why why why ? Motorola has it .. HTc has it .. only Samsung and sony lack this funtion i dont know about the new Sony Phones but last year they didnt had any market :@ which sucks big time. whats an android phone without market :|| ????
I am in Sweden. I got it yesterday and was very excited. Now I am sooooo frustrated. It is called 2.3.3, EATS RAM, now I hardly get a 100MB RAM free with no applications running. The battery drained in less than a day (previously lasted more than 2), the phone is slower and crashed twice in a day. It looks (almost) exactly the same as 2.2, and I have no idea about what is the advantage that I would get from the update, please tell me if you know. Another thing, Is there anyway I can go back to the previous system before the update (2.2.1)? If you have a different experience please tell me if there is anything I can do to improve performance. Thanks a lot
Official Android 2.3.3, jvb, is now out over Kies or using Odin, see www.samfirmware.com
Quadrant-score is only 977, but it feels a lot faster than any rom before, especially graphics in games... feel very smooth/fast. Gps is good, but you should be outside when using it. I have not tested the batterylife long enough yet, so far not that very impressed but it is still too early and I am really using it more than "normal use" to test it now.
Edward, 13 Apr 2011Samsung Galaxy S is superb...u must get it now!!! best seller of android phone.good as a gadget...too much awful as a phone...do never think of it if ur a practical person that wants to make a phone call and make it NOW...u will send ur phone flying from the window...better stick to blackberry or any non touch phones

Galaxy S i9000 is the most of the best android phones in market, i have just one problim in this phone, when i go to apps market and mainly to JUST IN APPS list my phone freez and gives me an error then logged out from it ! anyone had this befor??? if yes please tell me what to do.
thanks a lot
its a gud phone..hav it for 4 mos..no problemo...may i know if 2.3 available in asia..TiA....!
I had a similar problem where the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S kept resetting when switching off and on. When you switch it off you have to wait until it vibrates once - it's like a death rattle - then it is truly off - only then should you switch the battery or turn it on again.
AD, 13 Apr 2011Is any push email application available for Galaxy S ?
kindly help me.All Galaxy's are Google phones. So Gmail is push email built in.
It is brilliant and Gmail is best mail app.
You can use others with the SGS but why would you?
Everything is intergrated with your gmail account. Google Docs, Mail, Maps, Calendar etc.

Anonymous, 14 Apr 2011is there a ADOBE FLASH ?? please answer ASAP because i will buy the end of this month ! ... moreAndroid 2.2 and higher enables you to use adobe flash player version 10.1 upgradeable to 10.2(which i have done. All you have to do is download and it will auto install. and you can install more than 70000 applications from android market as i have been told. so either one you get will be a satisfactory buy for you. But imo, i'll go for arc, have view, seen and touch it buy comparison the best atm.
AnonD-5275, 14 Apr 2011when you upgrade to froyo or gingerbread it supports flash 10.something~~The model now comes with default froyo and flash 10
i own one of these and totally worth the money
upgraded to froyo recently, still amazed, loving the flash in the browser! however, when ever i turn off my phone, which i do when i charge it, the handset resets all my settings... not liking that, i wonder if anybody else is having the same problem and if there is a solution to that...
