so guys i wanna buy samsung galaxy s or samsung 8500 wave 4some time now... but can't decide... some help would be apprecieted... :)
i read some reviews on galaxy and it seems like nice piece of technology... but is it true about all those bugs like gps and so on... ??
The super amoled screen is great but gsmarena seem to hav let that completely seduce them when reviewing this handset. Dont get me wrong, its a great piece of kit but my main issue is with the UI, which is frankly poor and really lets the phone down.
I love swype and i like the feature whereby u swipe a contact's name one way to call them, and the other to message them. But it is ridiculously laggy given the hardware which lurks inside. Honestly its a joke at times. Lets not forget that this isnt just a mid range handset but a real attempt to usurp the iphone and with a ui like this it just isn't going to happen. The handset just freezes and then all of a sudden it jumps several screens at once as it catches up. I hav also found a major problem with the contacts and messages screen, whereby a message is received but the phone indicates it as being received from a different contact. Literally i had only two threads, one with messages to my mum and one to my dad, and despite the fact that the phone indicated the the threads were for the correct people, when i opened one to write a message, the area at the top of mums thread displayed dads number and vice versa. I didnt notice this at first so, consequently, mum got all of England's football goal updates and dad received a string of txts about how i was looking forward to my holiday. Absolutely shocking for a top of the range mobile, and yet gsmarena seem to think an admittedly impressive screen should warrant no mention of the UIs limitations.
My other gripe is merely opinion but why have 7 home screens and set the default screen to screen 1. the Desire.allocates the default screen as four which is where the live maps wallpaper shows your position centrally and it saves pointless amounts of scrolling
the desire also lets u see all your screens as thumbnails by pushing the home keym.
I think the seven screens were added to the galaxy s for the purpose of chest beating rather than as a genuinely useful tool. Am seriously tempted to trade in for a desire or iphone if froyo doesnt solve any of the problems.
It has good battery life considering it has fastest 1Ghz processor and fastest GPU that is at least 2X faster than any other phone. It should last you the whole day, if not you are running some bad apps in background
Fahad, 01 Oct 2010Adam open the wallpapers in the gallery which you can find in phone' applications and you can ... moreHey thanks for the tip! Will try to figure it out and hopefully it is able to fulfill my intention.

suman, 02 Oct 2010My phone also gets hot on charging? Bought the phone yesterday and charged it for 11 hours. The temperature was normal, maybe slightly warmer, you could barely notice it.
I love samsung galaxy s I9000, especially the live wallpaper..all my friends and workmates are amazed haha..compare to Iphone with no such things..Fast and powerful. The battery life is draining fast but it doesn't matter. I love the Phone..weeee...!!! Hope froyo will come soon.

Such a big price difference!PKR 49,000 its for 8GB or 16Gb.
This phone is the best of all I have before.
Also, about the "getting warm" while charging, I can say, that that is absolutely normal.
is a verry good phone. samsung galaxy s is the best.
i compare the samsung galaxy s with samsung wave s8500
Problems with this phone with BELL network in Canada. Maybe due to mods. Phone keeps freezing during calls and phone randomly turns off:S Enjoyed phone while it worked though. Amazing Screen!!!
Love the phone...i was contemplating to get it coz the camera has no flash but didnt regret getting it...the camera takes v clear pics even without flash...I compare pics taken in an indoor auditorium with low light with my friend's iphone 4 and I was prepared to loose this battle. Supprisingly, the pics takem frm my galaxy s is sharper thn my friend's iphone4 tht has a flash...fyi, I'm an iphone supporter too....I actually encouraged my wife to purchase iphone 4 while I use galaxy s....sadly wife bought the galaxy s as well...if not I toggle around w iphone4....
