sam song, 18 Jun 2010it will be available to retailers from 20th june onwards in delhi ncrFrom where you get the information that it will be in stores after 20th June in Delhi/NCR
take note: 2.1's max ram is only 256, when we get the 2.2 upgrade, it'll show up 512.
this was already confirmed
kitsune, 18 Jun 2010Actually the phone has 512 MB but the kernel doesn't utilize it all hence the system saing it ... moreAre you sure that 256 problem is only kernel issue and will be fixed with 2.2? How do you know that? Does it mean that all Galaxy S have 256 at the moment?
No 512 Ram , Only Showing 256 , Is this some Dirty Selling tactics by samsung i.e realsing the phone thats not fully
ready for the consumer use.
Im not happy , we should not have to wait for updates, can
this be checked out by gsmarena.
If all stays like this then i have no choice but move on to the iphone 4 which im sure will sell as advertised.
I have recieved the phone , impressed with the display but found its lags when mutliple apps are opened and also dont like to text font in emails, sms, web - there fonts are not smooth but look pixellated .
One major concern which i would like gsm arena to take up or query as its just not me but other users and thats the ram , yes its only showing 256 and thats the reason for the lags , Now are these handsets sold in uk are not the final versions or has there been some software issues from samsung, either way its against consumer law and we need to know if we have been mislead or been sold products not fit for sale in the UK, i Would appreciate if GSMARENA can shed some light or put us to the right
For all the dutch people here.
Go to typhone.nl or smartphoneshop.nl. they all got it in stock, atleast thats what they say
Anonymous, 18 Jun 2010batterylife will be better after you fully charge and decharge it a few times.... should be 24... moreActually the phone has 512 MB but the kernel doesn't utilize it all hence the system saing it only has 256 MB.
A fix for this problem will come in 2.2 :).
??? add numbers on bottom? totals out to 218mb....for RAM. got it from vodafone and it has 8gb only. i do have to close apps often using a task killer...bugger...
Anonymous, 15 Jun 2010For those thinking for buying Samsung galaxy S, jus think twice if u wan the phone upgraded to... moreSorry, but that's nonsense. Only the N1 is guaranteed upgrades because it is "Google phone". Many other HTC phones (e.g. Magic) didn't get upgrades to newer versions of Android or only after waiting very long time (Hero).
Hi. One question.
Is there any possibility to stop running programs.
For example wave, if you go to task manager by holding menu key there u can close programs. Galaxy s shows you the running programs (in task manager) but there is no way to close them. I know there are apps in the market but dont galaxy has its own task manager?
Hi there. This is a super nice phone.
But one thing. During the application downloads
the phone is getting slow.
the Position of screen wakeup button is not good.
whenever I want to press the wake up button , I accidently press the volume key together because it s on the same position at the oppersite side.
But still, it a super phone
I definatelly saw someone else bought Galaxy S from Vodafone with 256 ram....
Can everyone who own this phone take a look and let us know how much ram have you got? (you can do that at menu/settings/applications/running services, then add bottom 3 numbers
phemark, 18 Jun 2010Hi, I've had this phone for a day now, and here is what i think.
I wont go into many detail... morebatterylife will be better after you fully charge and decharge it a few times.... should be 24hrs or atleast 15hrs of heavy usage... anyways
SEND IT BACK because you are suppose to have 512mb RAM only some beta models had 256!!
I got my Galaxy S yesterday. I'm very very impressed. I've been using a Samsung Omnia Pro so I know already how good OLED screens are, this one is better! Android is a huge huge leap from WiMo 6.5!
Very fast, very slick phone! It's really light and thin too!
Hi, I've had this phone for a day now, and here is what i think.
I wont go into many details on how good this phone is, everyone knows that, id rather say what problems i had with it, so could offer me a solution. First of all its battery life... I bought the phone, charged it, then used it non stop for ~4-5h (wireless, bluetooth, downloading, music, apps etc., everything on), and it died after 4-5h... I must say i expected more... Will battery life improve after first charge, or is it everything it can do while heavily using?
Second, how to kill apps when exiting them. I have app killer app, but i dont want to use it every time i exit an app, ready anoing and slows handset down.
Speaking of slowing down, its really fast once you start the phone, but when you open more apps, it starts to lag a bit (especially if downloading via wifi or bluetooth, and playing 720p video), killing apps help, but again, i dont want to kill apps everytime i close something.
Finally, dont take me wrong, i love this phone (screen is just gorgeous, fast if not multitasking heavily, HD video recording very good (still images not as good or my hands are shaky:), still waiting for 2.2 update and havent explored android market almost at all yet)
If anyone has the same problems (battery life especially under heavy load), please let me know, so i would know that im not alone:) And could you confirm how much ram have you got? Because on this website it says 512 and i only have 256...
P.S. how to create folders inside meniu? i can create them on the desktop, but not in the meniu
ASH, 16 Jun 2010 come on guyzz.. these are just roomers.. this phone will definitely be upgradable to android ... moreI am a Samsung Disty in the UK and can confirm that it will be upgradable to 2.2 FroYo later in the year... hope that helps
