Gerald, 09 Jun 2010Hi guys, I'm writing to you because I'm interested in the new Samsung Galaxy S, which will ... moreNo, it's the contrary. There isn't any preloaded GPS application. But it's not an issue because you can download FREE or paid GPS apps from the android market.
I'm writing to you because I'm interested in the new Samsung Galaxy S, which will be available soon in AUT.
I've read many tests about the new smartphone, but I'm a little bit confused about the GPS at the new phone.
Some tests say, that der will be no free GPS-Solution.
Does this mean, i can't buy e.g. iGo/garmin/etc for navigation and I only can use a pre-installed navigation-solution??
i am tired of waiting for this phone to launch in India. apple announces a phone and launches it in just 2 weeks. If samsung was not so confident about their own product that they took 3 months to launch it aftr announcement, then it really seems futile to buy their product.
Anonymous, 09 Jun 2010It should be the best for games with the hummingbird, but android is rubbish for games. Not to... more?? How is that? Do you mean that games will work better on qualcomm than ARM?
The SoCs don't have anything to do with gaming characteristics. It's the OS(Android) that handles the threads. Hummingbird packs an ARM Cortex A8 and a powerVR SGX 540(more powerful than the 535 on both the ipad and iphone 4). Games would be way more performant on the galaxy than on any snapdragon based device.
just check the benchmarks :
SaidWhuassap, 08 Jun 2010you also need that 960x640 to murder the iphone. Still it's easy reading on 4.0" AMOLED vs squinting at the iphone 3.5" screen.
Not everyone has perfect eyesight you know.
Anonymous, 07 Jun 2010anybody seen galaxy s gaming experience? couple of videos on youtube with wave, but havent see... moreIt should be the best for games with the hummingbird, but android is rubbish for games. Not to mention any games written will be aimed at snapdragon System-on-a-chips so don't expect games to look anywhere near as good as things like COD on the 3GS. Though PC ports from a decade ago should work well on this like Quake 3.
It disturbs me how many people are like "cool ok, no flash " Don't you get out much at night? Then precede to care about gaming performance and emulators. I mean do you guys not have computers? $700 dollars to play games 100x worse than on $300 console or $600 PC? Really guys?
I personally would swap that hummingbird gfx chip out for a flash, even an LED.
Niko, 07 Jun 2010they just copied iphone! not only with the shape but also with menus and everything! am sure i... moreI agree, shameful. It has better specs than the 3GS why produce a superior product that knocks off last years and now inferior product apple product. They even lost their minds and copied apples lack of flash. Which is massive for a social networking device. No club/bar pictures. No purchase from me.
now thats BS, millions of Iphones sold *not that thats a good way to compare or relate this phone to but there are people that GENERALLY DONT CARE about the cam as much.... IMHO 5mp is fine, and i hate flash pics cuz they look awful. only reason why I need a LED is cuz of those damn black outs in india -.-
Anonymous, 08 Jun 2010No Flash? Come on! This was the reason no IPhone was ever sold ! ;)Aggreed. They build a super duper hp but forgot the basics.
best samsung phone ever,,,,,and bye bye I-PHONE fuck offfff,,,,,,,,i have seen that day by day every mobile company is beating apple,,,,now i think that now its turn off videocon &&& micromax which will beat apple i phone....soon
yea agree with you peeps below .... and YES pretty positive you can turn it off and hopefully some modders will also add the HTC sense for kicks ;)
Anonymous, 08 Jun 2010No best device will be N8 + SuperAMOLED + High res screen + Android OS + 9mm Thin + 4Inch Scre... moreI dont think it will be possible to fit 12 mp camera optics, 1/1.83" sensor and Xenon flash in just 9mm. 12.9 mm is reasonable thin for N8 due to its specs sheet.
Put a camera flash on this thing, thrown in Android 2.2, and take away the Touch Wiz UI and voilà you have yourself an iPhone 4 killer.
can any one of you who allready have the phone tell me/us if it is poseble to deactivate the touchwiz UI like on the omnia II ???
Anonymous, 08 Jun 2010No best device will be N8 + SuperAMOLED + High res screen + Android OS + 9mm Thin + 4Inch Scre... morehey dude...try to come-up with a specs list of what you think could be a massive beast of a smartphone...hehe let's see what you can come-up with...who knows, GSMarena might actually glimpse over it and make their own GSMAphone! haha
Lol, 08 Jun 2010No best device will be N8 + SuperAMOLED + High res screen. No best device will be N8 + SuperAMOLED + High res screen + Android OS + 9mm Thin + 4Inch Screen
