This is a bit of a hard decision. Both I9000 S & I8520 BEAM have features I like. But it's one phone or the other.
Samsung could definately look importanly for both phones at internal memory. Look at Nokia X6, N900, N97, certain HTC's, Iphone 3GS, all have massive internal memory.
Also being the top model of samsungs range I would of thought it would include the 8MP camera over the BEAMS 8MP camera.
Here is my opinion of my my perfect phone from samsung. A fusion of the I9000's CPU, graphics engine for the I8520. I900 or I8520 large internal memory which is where other brands are moving on impreesivly with this.
Samsung being a leader in NAND flash shouldn't be a problem including lots of mem. Also not sure of by heart how much ROM & RAM I9000 has, but both I9000 & BEAM could do with 512 ROM, over 384 RAM, as the HTC's are starting to include lots of RAM & ROM in their phones.
If this phone id going to be a multimedia monster with the CPU & graphics, & HD rec & playback, then it could do with some pretty decent speakers. Hopefully better or equal to my Nokia 5800 would be very nice indeed.
But I like the look of the beam without the projector to make it look slimmer & sleeker & more elegance. Problem is, I like the 8MP of the BEAM, the look from the front & bottom of BEAM, but the slimmness of the I9000 with the Galaxys processor & 3d Graphics with the Beams stereo speakers which look like at the mo may be better than I9000, but thats speculation on my part.
Also I like the 1800MAH of the BEAM where you only get 1500MAH on the I9000. SO it's a very difficult decision for me, I'm torn between two phones which both have the ideal features but in split up into two seperate packages. Because I like the 4" screen of the I9000 also.
I have no idea which decision I am going to make. I guesse we can only wait for the final products & make another difficult decision when the time comes. I for one can wait till then, because I in no rush to decide over them both.
I honestly dont know why everyone is making a big deal about the cameras or flash or MP or video recording... honestly, its a phone! if you care about all that.. go buy an actual camera. look at what counts here. Eclair, 1GHz processor, Super AMOLED screen... amazing stuff!!!
Have you read what gsma said?
It will be out in a month..
So, May is the release date. :)
I've owned a 3.2 MP, 5 MP and now an 8 MP phone. 3.2 MP might be enough for some uses, but 5 MP is IMO the ideal compromise between definition and the size of the file it generates. I wish that manufacturers started to focus on stuff that REALLY influences picture quality, like good lenses, noise management and photometry. When will people stop believing that more MP equals better pictures?
lord_RED, 13 Apr 2010guys, why compare camera phones with a bigger MP count? could you imagine uploading pictures i... moreyes that is totally correct, 5MP cameras already produce pretty big pictures.. around 1-2MB a picture.. any higher, and you'll have to re-size it for it to be of any use. ideally, 3.2MP cameras are enough.. if you want to take EXTREMELY good pics, get a DSLR
will there be market demand/people preference for dual sim card phones? why doesn't samsung think of high end dual sim card handsets?
With regards to the presence of an led/xenon flash for the camera, i have been doing a bit of research. Apparently the final shop release will almost certainly have an LED flash.. the units on display at the various conventions were still prototype stage models without built in flashes and we shouldnt expect this to be the case when the 19000 hits the shops.
Anonymous, 12 Apr 2010Not only the flash but also 12MP camera - that's the lead given by N8...Galaxy S narrowly losi... moreguys, why compare camera phones with a bigger MP count? could you imagine uploading pictures in their default pic size with that kind of resolution???? there are a lot of other phones out there that only packs 3.2MP or 5MP but the pictures are already great! and if you have 12.1MP image, i'm sure when you edit it you'd resize your picture anyways! get a DSLR with an operating system for cryin' out loud!
look at the other specs that would benefit you...
Anonymous, 12 Apr 2010Galaxy S killer to come as Nokia N8...the lack of flash in Galaxy S is taken care by N8Yes, but N8 is only a rumoured phone, it's not even going to be real.
OMG! It's as big as the HD2. It's a no-no for me.
Pls Samsung make a mini version of Galaxy S. A 3.2 in. screen is enough to some of us.
monkey bong, 12 Apr 2010 "This thing cannot possibly be the iPhone killer with it's price.. 600 EUR is just too ... moreiPhone is crap with itself and great with its support; Samsung is great with the phone and crap with its support which doesn't need.
Anonymous, 13 Apr 2010Is it true that there will be no flash? Not even a stinking LED flash? This is too bad to be t... moreThere does appear not to be a flash which I agree with you is an appauling omission.

Samsung GT-i9000 Galaxy S Preview: http://www.kaskus.us/showthread.php?t=3732037
this has potential to become the best samsung or the best phone even...samsung guys, bring it to the market and like the snapdragon, i'll snap one....cmon!
Its a big clunky want to be iPhone on Android OS. Why is Samsung persisting with Android? Its not going to be the iPhone answer. In fact Blackberry is far closer to matching iPhone at the moment with the current Bold and upgrade to its BES software. Samsung are great hardware makers but really suck with O/S and Applications.
Is it true that there will be no flash? Not even a stinking LED flash? This is too bad to be true. Even 50 Euro phones have a LED flash these days.
Yeah, the first ever HD video recorder is amazing. I just hope that it can do Slo-mo @120fps in VGA (480x640). The best slo-mo resolution any phone has done is QVGA(320x240). (VGA has 4x more detail/info). The only other feature I wish this phone had was a 12.1 MP camera to match the one on the Sony E. Satio.
