Go to Samsung-omnia.org, then navigate to the ROM discussions for i900. There is a thread there for official ROM releases. If you still encounter the invalid version problem, there are tips there (really easy ones) that can resolve the issue.
What I can say is that the omnia is not for texters who drive. Coming from an E71, what you'll miss are the following:
More color resolution
Hotswapping of storage cards
What you gain:
Nice and customizable OS
Bigger storage (up to 32GB...though I heard the omnia can accommodate a 32GB storage card raising the total to 48GB).
At the end of the day it's all up to you to decide if the omnia is a perfect fit for your mobile/smartphone needs. I have never regretted buying an omnia. It has it's downs, but that poses more of a challenge to me to correct things...make things a lot easier...and the best thing about it is the never-ending customization you can do.
how can I get the latest update and version?i go to samsungmobile n it keeps saying my version is not valid..
For the Filipinos: What can you say about the Omnia? plano ko kasi ibenta yung E71 ko for the sake na makapagpalit sa omnia. Pls. give me your comments about omnia. thanks

VIOLET, 11 Aug 2009Good day! I'm really unfamiliar with windows mobile because i have been using regular cellphon... moreIt depends on what job you are thinking of...
It is not comparable to a PC due to it's limited scalability and limited applications, but for something that fits in your pocket, then it's a different story.

Sorry for the confusion, it's not Mobile shell 4, it's mobile shell skins 4. It's the one from imarche and I think you already have it. :)
For customizations you can try to install the Advanced Config Tool (downloadable ithrough the How To thread in samsung-omnia.org)

tnx po for all the reply! surprisingly, andami palang pinoys here. hehehe. just want to share this, nagpalagay ako ng Zagg Invisible Shield in megamall and it cost P1,500. unfortunately, i'm not satisfied not with the product but with the crew's lack of skill in installing it. it doesn't look professionally done, so i won't recommend it here in the philippines. i'd rather go back to G-Mask again.

CPU In... moreHmmm...96MB ROM..is that the full specification or is that the available ROM after the system ROM is installed?
Anyway, CPU-wise it all depends on the speed and not the brand. case in point AMD vs Intel...The only minus we have for AMD is tat you need a good cooling system for it to perform well. OS-wise, WinMo 6.1 is better.
shajed, 10 Aug 2009hi,im using it since2monthes.can anyone tell me can i change or add widgets on todays menu?thank youYes you may. Go online then look for the more widgets "widget". If you're having issues with this, visit samsung-omnia.org or modaco.com then search the "widget" keyword.
Jin Madera, 10 Aug 2009im just curious actually i have my old xda II's but comparing the two by their speed...i think... moreI haven't noticed any lag time or anything. What I notice though is when I am listening to music and navigating to different folders or other apps, the sound stops for half a second. This happened when I upgraded to DXIA5.
BTW, I have a bit of a problem with the case I am using. I have the original slip-on hard case and the inside peeled off putting some glue on my unit. For all Omnia users in Metro Manila, what case are you using? Where did you buy it? How much?
hi,im using it since2monthes.can anyone tell me can i change or add widgets on todays menu?thank you
