Hi guys hope all is well. I am fairly new to samsung phones but have been reading the raving reviews on the Omnia. A friend of mine recently purchased a samgsung instinct from sprint and he is very pleased with the phone. I just want to make the best decision as these phones are quite expensive. Any thoughts or recommendations where to put my $$$$$. THX

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2008there is a solution a read yesterday an engineer code you tap into the phone pad which alows y... moreas promised here is the solution to the volume issue that some users are experiencing!
In the phone keypad type: *#0002*28346#

You will then have a screen pop up called audio control util.

How to change the loudspeaker volume for ringtones, movies, mp3s etc

Click menu, normal then handset (the first one, Phones headset/loudspeaker) Here you can change:

Speaker volume: SPK(02) -db is less volume, I have set this to -1.5db (level)
Digital-to-analog: DAC(0C) This effects the overall volume of Mp3s, movies etc -both headset and loud speaker. I have set this to 0db.
Radio Volume: RVOL

How to change the headset / earphones volume.

Click menu, normal then headset (the second one, Headphones) Here you can change:

Headphones volume: HP(04) -db is less volume +db is more volume, I have set this to 0db (level)
Digital-to-analog: DAC(0C) This effects the overall volume of Mp3s, movies etc. I have set this to 0db.
Radio Volume: RVOL

*You must click menu / apply for changes to take effect,

for the start, interface may be hard to get used to (previously using nokia)

-touch screen pretty sensitive, sometimes may executive wrong command (e.g dialing/web browsing)

- audio cracks seriously for video recording(especially noisy environment), kinda laggy when record in VGA quality,QVGA is fine

- you may wanna consider an additional battery on the go if your a slightly heavier user of the phone features

some reference if you find it useful

to every one with camera/memory issue, you need to go into the camera settings and set the save folder to my storage, otherwise you are saving the images to the small 100mb ¨my device memory¨! which is why you get this message, also if you install applications on the phone again use ¨my storage¨ or you will have the same issue.

Why mention iphone here? That's not a smartphone ...You can't even do a simple operation such as edit a Word document on it, right?

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Aren't there any mods on forum or what. This is the Samsung Omnia forum, not the iPhone forum. This will not be happening on the Avforums website or any other forum, except here it seems. My girlfriend has got the iPhone 3G, and it is a great phone but without BT, a decent camera, no option to expand the memory, etc. I prefer the Omnia to the iPhone, hence, why i visit this forum, and not the iPhone forum, so, can we please concentrate on just posting information that relates to omnia, pleeeese.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970What did you say? omnia kicked iphone's ass? Unfortunately for the omnia, that is not what the sales figure show. So I do believe it's the other way around =)

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970You are not making sense and you are being irrelevant and off the wall.

Maybe because Omnia fans just love to diss the iphone that I decided to share my thoughts about your phone as well. Obviously I have no control over those people who go to the iphone section to bad mouth the iphone, just like you have not control of people like me who decided to retaliate. So what do we do? Deal with it =)

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2008Actually the iphone is for professionals, and the omnia is for kids. You know why? A pro wil... moreAt about 8am in the morning, or 3pm in the afternoon, you see lots of people walking on the street, on the cross walk, with ear phones in the ears listening to music using ipods and all types of mp3's. These are school kids. It would be nice that they don't have to carry another piece of hardware if they have a mp3 and also can use as a phone, SMS and occasionally, take some pictures. This is why iphone is so popular because it is highly demanded by school kids. Iphones are good, very good, for kids.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970500 cd's would equal to around 7000 songs. So yes, you would still have room for another 500 cd's in the iphone. Although I really think it's impractical and silly, but yes, there's plenty of room for your 500 cd's in the iphone. And the best thing about it is, you don't have to deal with a memory card and the pain of having to make sure you're saving files into your memory card and not your phone memory.
