Anonymous, 11 Sep 2008Has anyone here been using the Omnia on Orange for any period of time? I'm looking at the 16g... moreI have had the Omnia om Orange for a few weeks now and have had no network problems. I drive around the south east for work and the service is no different to previous Samsung handsets. By the Omnia and enjoy!
When i first use omnia, noticed THESE, if it's of any info or help to you, here you are
(will add on soon if anything else noticed)
- flash too bright when taking photos near subject
- video seem laggy during recording and playback, audio cracks alot, almost inaudible if recording done in noisy environment
- battery drops pretty fast with use of data plan/wifi and of cuz camera and videos,so far have not experienced battery flat when out
-opera browser intermittent hangs/unresponsive/sensitive,,seem a lil' unstable, initially not used to navigation as i own a ipod touch as well, took a few days before getting used, kinda good after that
- windows live messenger (msn) as phone application, stays connected with wireless/data plan even when phone goes into standby mode, an advantage over web based messenger
- keypad's kinda small with my big fingers LOL but can be compensate with use of fingernails, XT9(word spell or something like that?) helps you type much more faster
-GPRS auto-connect @ times w/o knowledge, probably due to myself not adjusting the neccessary settin yet?
- am previously a nokia user, takes you a few days (at least for myself) to get used to omnia user interface
Fat_Jon, 11 Sep 2008theres no such thing as profile in wm phones... u can only use the loud, vibrate and mute (... morethanks. might have to do that as i miss having settings for situations. the screen takes some getting used to but its a nice phone. i came from an original n95, and its not a huge leap forward. if the n95 was this shape and size i would have been very happy to have stayed with nokia
anyone else having issues with the hanset locking up. ie cannot wake the phone up! there seems to be no reason for it happening, very random, happend the first couple of days, then was fine for about 3 days but has done it 3 times today, and had to perfom a reset, and boot it again.????
This handset is the dog's danglies. It has virtually everything you need in a handset, it's compact and has cracking performance.
I reckon on the 16Gb you can store around 50 movies.
You can get it free on alot of contracts and it thrashes the iphone in terms of performance and price.
Having Windows Mobile 6.1 makes it an easy device to add software, update and synchronise with other apps.
S'pose the only grumble is that the dibber is held externally to the device and the QWERTY is on screen (I'd prefer a hardware variant).
I could not find the keypad either. I cracked open the phone and i still couldnt find it. WHERE the hell is it at? I am returning phone today

Anonymous, 11 Sep 2008I just got my Omnia and I am getting frustrated. I cannot find the keypad. Where is it hidde... moreum, hello? what keypad r u talking about? the Samsung Keypad or the phone dial pad?
pressing the call key will get u to the dial pad
on the other hand, what do u mean the top part doesnt slide?!
omnia is not a sliding phone....
r u sure u have an omnia?!
Just got one a few days ago on Orange - works great. I was initially concerned over teh lack of keyboard as I do a lot of email and texts. However, if you select the Samsung Phonepad as your keyboard (can be set as default in Settings), then you get a decent sized keyboard on screen to use. This keyboard will be just like a phone keyboard - plus if you're using Predictive text etc - just as fast.
Anyone know how I can find the MAC address so that I can connect to my wireless router at home. I have MAC filtering witched on in my router.
Anonymous, 11 Sep 2008umm, difficult one. because i havent yet found anything like nokias "profiles" which is anno... moretheres no such thing as profile in wm phones...
u can only use the loud, vibrate and mute (no sound nor vibrate) mode which could be found on the top right corner of the Today's screen or by pushing the up or down buttons on the right hand side.....
if u really need a profile, its better for u to find some profile programs in pda forums :D
i dont believe you can edit widgets, i havent found a way too anyway...
Parvez, 11 Sep 2008hey does anyone know if you can edit widgets on the phone? and if so how? thanks in advance!!no sorry :S
widget icons cannot be personalise...
but the shortcuts in the menu mode can :D
you can set your mp3's as ring tones use the media album, you can adjust the volume on the top bar, and the vibration strength in settings personal vibration...
