Does it has voice dialing and if yes then it is one touch voice dialing or too complicated, please reply users before I buy this wud like to know this feature.

i heard that it is because when your battery level is lower than 10 or 20% it will shut down the phone function and only left the pda function.... i dunno how true is that... just what i've been told

Hi, my Omnia tends to lose the telephone operator signal, even though it shows a 3G network and the signal indicator is full (strong). I cannot make calls or receive calls. And this signal loss always happen without any warning or indication until I make a call or sms. Thus, I cannot know if I miss a call or sms. Do this happen to any of you? Anyway to fix it? Thanks

I recently bought an iPhone 3g here in the philippines and my girlfriend bought an Omnia (talk about opposite worlds)
what we have come up in terms of "reviews" are:
iPhone
Good:
plenty, plenty of apps (have it jailbroken though)
easier to use than omnia
faster than omnia (omnia tends to hang after many applications are open)
Bad:
lack lustered in terms of phone applications
(useless bluetooth, no MMS, etc)
cam is useless at night
no doc editor
Omnia
Good:
brilliant UI design
expandable memory
exceptional camera
Bad:
windows OS (tends to hang especially if you try to use the cam after heavy PDA usage)
sometimes responds slow
lack of apps that utilize wqvga screen (some apps act funny in it)
Bottom line:
despite what people may say, none is better than the other. it is entirely up to the user. i for one dont miss the missing features of iphone coz i rarely bluetooth anything out of my phone nor do i use mms. on the other hand, my girlfriend and her group of friends love to exchange pics locally and other items hence the bluetooth need.
i also use a mac, so the iphone was the perfect choice, but my GF is a die hard PC user so the omnia was the choice to go.
Over all, both have some bugs that could have done if the product was polished a little more before its release, but both are excellent buys, and despite are rather "lighter pockets" for having to buy both devices, we have not regretted our choice.

i love the fluid motion of the iphone, the way every flows on the UI, will samsung be releasing a firmware update for this phone to do that? i really like the iphone and the omnia, but the omnia, UI wise is okay and useable but its just so boring! even when you touch the buttons, nothing fancy happens, just need to sort out the UI Samsung in your future firmware update matching the iphone experience, then youve definitely got an iphone killer! =), does anyone know if this will actually happen?

A couple of questions:
1. Since it's not like the convetional phones and its keypad I believe is qwerty, can you use one hand when texting?
2. I had an experience with another Samsung phone (I forgot the model #, but it's faily new) wherein the capturing of the picture takes a long time, i.e. there's a big gap between the time you press the shutter button and the time the phone actually captures the image. Does this phone have the same issue?

I was thiiiissss close to picking up an iPhone today because I didn't think ther... more1 it should work in canada obviously providing you get an unlocked version.
2 yea mine came with msn messenger installed and it works really well. Just make sure you try get an unlimited gprs/3g plan coz it often tries to connect even though i'm in a wifi zone which is wierd
3 not sure about the price. i got mine free on a uk contract

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2008Just heard that around 50% of the Omnia currenlty available in the market are presenting probl... morejust got mine a couple of days ago. it seems like its a problem with windows mobile software more than the actual touchscreen. It works fine if you make sure all the applications that you arent using are properly closed with the task manager

sly, 02 Sep 2008does it have a 3.5mm jack for standard earpiece??? or anyother ports?mine came with a 3.5mm extension from the propriatory samsung port and a pair of in ear earphones. Its the same port for the charger as well.

Down fall on this unit thus far, no case, call buttons do not light up on end and receive buttons for calling, no light to indicate blue tooth is on or you have a missed call or data message, unlike the pdas winmobs with HTC and 02 etc do. Camera does not load sometimes due to windows error, stating "not enough video memory", when the unit does! Soft reset does the trick, waiting on patch, Finally if you are used to a side scroller, you will miss it on this unit replaced with a pc like mouse on screen, which is not bad actually. Perhaps on the next edition? Otherwise smart unit as I purchased it over the 3G iPhone. You will like the business data card capture, so no more endless typing of business cards. Just point and click and its transferred to outlook contacts. Happy Omniaing..
