Vodafone UK say as of Monday their shops will have stock, tariff from £35 but beware this is not the true cost. If you want to use the GPS function (as most will surely) on the Omnia, it will cost you another £4.25 per month. On O2 such service has always been free!
I Went to Vodaphone today. The Omnia was not available as their website says and they didn't know when it will be available. An other shop (can't remember their name) was talking about week 35. Finally The Phone house told me it will be official announced in the third week of September.
So we have to wait an other month or so.
I think Samsung has their reasons to postpone the launch. In this way they can fix bugs, they want to avoid problems as the iPhone has now!!! They also have good alternatives, all shops need to be fully supplied, marketing must be right for the specific markets, etc.
Finally: I don't understand why some persons are so impatient, it just a phone!!! There are far more important things in life that a phone. So wait and be happy that you can buy a nice phone as the Omnia. In some countries the costs of this phone is more than their annual earnings.
i am using this phione in the us and it is awesome. blows away the iphone. the only thing i cant figure out is to make the screen go from horizontal to vertical on the internet. it orks fine on the camera. thanks
Anonymous, 23 Aug 2008Here's my take on your post regarding things you cannot do with the iphone. 1)No video reco... moreman iphone 3g really is just years behind features of other phones, all it is is just an ipod with good UI and phone functions.. "i use my canon sd to take pictures" who are you batman?. Most of us have phones good enough or at par with point and shoot cameras, out there. "oh I cant send mms i can email it though" well for some countries with advance network features we use mms in a normal basis coz its so much FASTER. Man just to sum it up an omnia even with a buggy firmware will always be better that your iphone 3g.
lee, 23 Aug 2008after looking forwad to this phone coming out i went into my local vodafone store to try it ou... moreTrust me, the pics taken from the camera arent poor.
It takes probably the best pics of any windows mobile phone out. You have to view the pics on a computer screen to see the quality, because they look a little fuzzy on the phone.
got it!!! waited ages for it didnt like the silver 16 gb have got the 8gb, device of the year so far however i think samsung should have aborted there widget ideas a long time ago they are pointless on a windows mobile device but a part from that
the camera great video record great opera browers great
the stylus looks like a lip gloss (think i will keep that in my pocket lol) 9.5 /10 guys try it

Abhijit, 23 Aug 2008samsung i900 can only be compared to SE X1 and HTC touch...where did iPHONE came from..??? Some people will just compare just about anything. iPhone can be compared with music players. i900 is better be compared with other Windows 6.1 mobile devices.
samsung i900 can only be compared to SE X1 and HTC touch...where did iPHONE came from..???
Anonymous, 23 Aug 2008I thought you just said that it keeps on crashing and that you have to turn it off and then on... moreiPhone is a iPod with call and low quality camera (withour settings) function. How can u compare it with a windows mobile made for communication and usage? U dont see us comparing SE X1 with a laptop, do u?
i just got it and i got at&t i was able to get the internet to work though i had to enter it manually but i am not able to get the mms settings to work. does anyone know what mms settings that i need for at&t to work with this phone?
Tom Taylor, 23 Aug 2008I got the 16GB version from Orange for free on Wednesday 20th August. Its an 18month contract ... moreI thought you just said that it keeps on crashing and that you have to turn it off and then on again to get it working, even had to take the batteries out at times. So how does that kick the iphone's butt? And oh, didn't you say that you have to look for the firmware upgrade yourself to get some bugs fixed? LOL. That's ridiculous. With the iphone, you get a text message from Apple and AT&T when a necessary upgrade is available to improve the iphone's performance. So I guess it's the iphone that kicks all the other phones' butts =)
Anonymous, 22 Aug 2008Dean if you look under monthly plans and current phones it IS there from £35 just checked again. Yep, i checked again and it was back on, strange!!!!!!
I got the 16GB version from Orange for free on Wednesday 20th August. Its an 18month contract with unlimited data and texts (fair usage policy but who cares - orange dont), 1500 xnet anytime mins and all for a jaw dropping £37.50 per month!!!!
Some of the contact software keeps crashing though, and it somehow powers down completley and you have to turn the device off and back on (or even take the battery out!)
Saying that it is a fantastic piece of kit, the first revision of public firmware when released should solve all these problems (or you can hack it to load the latest singapore firmware to fix it!)
The Samsung i900 kicks Apple and HTC in the balls thats for sure!!! ;)
Cijo, 22 Aug 2008Things you cannot do with apple iphone:
1)No video recording
2)No copy & paste option
3)No ... moreHere's my take on your post regarding things you cannot do with the iphone.
1)No video recording.
That's alright, I take videos using my canon camera. It's much better than any camera phones. Believe me, I used to have the N95, and it was fun using its camera in taking videos for a short while, then you realize that you don't really need it. I still ended up using my Canon SD to take videos.
2)No copy & paste option.
Yes, this one would be nice to have, but can do without it just fine. Future upgrades would fix this issue for sure.
3)No flash or optical zoom and only 2mp camera.
Same as #1, I'd rather use my Canon camera, because even with a xenon flash, a camera phone is still not as good as my Canon in taking pictures. And on a good lighting condition, the iphone takes good pictures just like any other camera phones.
4)Cannot forward a text message(sms)- you need to email it.
That's ok, email is free, while you have to pay every time you send a text message.
5)No bulk message. If you need to wish 10 people foe X'mas, send it 10 times.
You are wrong, iphone 3g can send text messages to multiple recipients. Check again buddy.
Who wants to pay for every MMS you send when you can email pics via your iphone for FREE.
7)No voice dialing.
Where's the fun in that? Touchscreen dialing is much more fun. Why do you think we bought the iphone for? So we can't use its touchscreen and use voice dialing? LOL. Think.
8)No multi-select option.(you cant delete more than one e mail or photos at a time).
You can mark multiple emails and delete them all at the same time, so again, you are wrong. As for pics, it's not a hassle at all in deleting them 1 by 1, it's fun with the iphone. But I do understand your frustration if you are using unresponsive phones, but the iphone isnt' like that. It's fun to use.
9)You cant replace the battery.
This would be a problem if you replace your batter every week. Or if your sim card is underneath the battery. That is not the case with the iphone.
10)No support for wireless modem.
Wireless or USB you still need your phone close enough to your PC or laptop. Also, laptops have wifi, so it would be rare to none that someone would use this feature.
11) Can't sync with Bluetooth stereo or in-car Bluetooth handsfree. It lacks A2DP on Bluetooth. You cant even send the photo you have taken unless you activate GPRS.
And why would I need to synch my phone to my car when I already have a bluetooth headset. Wired headsets will always have better audio quality than the wireless ones in listening to music. As for photos, I can send it by email which is much more convenient than BT.
12)You cannot share MP3, images and video files via Bluetooth.
Sorry, but I primarily bought my iphone for my use and pleasure, it is not my obligation to provide others w/ my music, images, and videos. Get your own files. I have better things to do than sit next to you just so I could transfer files via BT because you can't afford to buy your own, or too lazy to download from limewire. Better yet, I can email those files to you on my spare time.
13)No ringtone customisation
The iphone's ringtones are fine. There are other more fun things to do with the iphone than customizing ringtones, lol. Gosh, that is so Nokia.
