Network issues mainly occur during the latching between 3G and 2G if your phone is kept under automatic(GSM/WCDMA)mode. If move from strong 3G coverage area to a very poor or no 3G area, say Deep indoors, your phone automatically goes on searching mode of the best network and probably gets latched to 2G. Hence, your network drops. It is common to all phones. I have been using SGSA since September and believe me I didn't find any network issue considering the 3G to 2G handover and so. It's a superb phone and I love it. Just waiting 4 the legitimate JB update which seems to be a far cry. GB is very stable and it is worth buying if anyone is planning...
I am new to android and s advance is my first smartphone. Bought it a month back. Must say it is a great phone. I wanted to know what exactly are ota updates and do i need to install them?? I currently have os 2.3.6 ddlk2.
I switched off my phone ...battery is 20% at that time...when i am trying to switch it on, it is not working at all. Phone became dead ...I tried switching on with a charger too ..but no use ...Can any 1 suggest me what to do...
I bought this phone about a month ago, and im still impressed of its performance.
It can handle multitasking quite well, even with several apps running in the background. No video lags while gaming, still, aliased edges are often a bit ugly...but its a single core mali, its not as powerful as a SG SII one. Anyway, hd games run quite well (shadowgun, dead trigger, bard's tale) without lagging, i'd say, decent performance.
On the other hand, the curved screen is a bit...weird. Still, it's not uncomfortable as soon as you get used to it.
I bought mine unlocked in the USA, without carrier.
Anyway, there are some thing that i just cannot understand. First of all, this phone is supposed to have 768mb of user available RAM, but only 555mb are available fpr usage. That means that the rom is taking the missing 213mb, and, samsung, that's not what you advertise...
Second, camera without zoom? i mean, what the heck, the camera is great, videos @720 look wonderful, but there's no digital zoom for a mid-high end smartphone? my galaxy s5360l had it, and it's a low end phone...
The rest of the phone is just wonderful, very fast, due to it's dual core, quick response for multitasking, nice processing power. I'd recommend it to everyone that's looking for a pocket pc, for work, or just for multimedia usage, and also for games to kill the time.
It's a nice phone if you are not able to afford the powerful SG SII, which is much more expensive than this one.
As far as i know, if you root this device, and you get a custom rom for it, you'll get greater performance, very close to a SII with it's custom rom, and that's an important thing to consider if you like to tune up your phone and make it a real beast.
Oh, one more thing. Since it's battery capacity is only 1500mah, it can be a little...small, for a dual core @1ghz. Still, im getting more than 12 hours of battery with internet browsing, heavy 3g network usage, and some music playback, and that's great, considering it's battery capacity.
So, if you are able to get an SII, i suggest you to pay the difference and get it. Still, if you are not able to pay the difference, you can enjoy a full android experience woth this little buddy, even with it's outdated android (2.3.6).
Finally, i'm waiting for the update, i guess it will be available through Kies in a few months in all countries!.
I am from india. I had network issues with Gingerbread. After i updated to XXLQ4, there is no network problem. Camera zoom also there. Battery charge lasts longer. If u face any lags while playing games, flash the thunderzap kernel 4.1 Then install Bravia engine 2. All these can be found in the xda site.
Galaxy s advance rocks.

I didn't face any lagging or network issues in this phone till 7 months of use. I also activated GPRS plan of Rs.54 and I got a decent speed in this phone.. If this phone had zoom option in cam It will be the perfect one.
[deleted post]Use Nokia then. If you're so unhappy with this.. It's your choice, money in your own wallet...

SGSA has good battery backup.(I got 2 days backup for normal use and less than 1 day for heavy use).
Good call Quality(in call voice is good.No need to keep the phone closer to ear.)
Even S3 dont have dedicated cam button.
