In my opinion you should demand a replacement. I use my cell phone as a point-and-shoot replacement as well and right now my SGSII just fails to deliver its advertised camera specs. By the way I live in Greece but bought my handset from UK.
bhomz, 28 May 2011u shud get the KE7 upgrade and everything will be fine I updated to KE7 but that didn't solve the problem.
when will this beast be available in south africa thanks in advanced.
I am a happy owner of this device and it's absolutely fantastic.
Updated it as soon as taken out of the box to the latest generic software KE7 and rooted it.
I had an LG optimus 2X and this one is a lot better, especially the screen.
For those whom can afford it, don't hesitate at all, this is THE smartphone of the year.

Having seen your efforts at originality I can see why would 'piggy back' on anothers comments BUT U FAILED, as U have 2 link these points in your owm words. What may puzzle some is the contradiction, rhetoric. Demand respect, intelligence, LATIN? When U clearly have not managed the basics. Spelling poor! as phonetics or would that be fonetics 4 U? For all the skills U profess 2 have none have come 2 the surface. Take a comment and improve it, add 2 it, disagree with it and state the reasons. But like the SGSII, that comment did NOT need touching!

Regretfully, its not the only problem; I doscovered that the LED flash does not work properly at all. Instead of lightening up the pictures, it makes them 99% black. P.S. I am form the Netherlands, where did you buy yours from?
look at this weeb site the SGS 2 has beat the iPhone 4 in the UK.

If you buy this phone now, a newer and better ideas will come and you may regret purchasing this... And no, for sure, this phone will not have the same popularity as now after 4 years 'cause the dual core phones will be for little kids.. there will be quad cores, more powerful processors (instead of 1GHz dual core, 2.5GHz quad core for example) etc.. So, buy this and enjoy it till a newer thing comes or if you know what are you doing, stay on this for at least 2-3 years. Technology won't stop at this phone.
Hello everybody, I just bought SGS II and unfortunately my phone has the red spot camera defect. Updating to latest firmware didn't solve the problem. Is it a widespread issue or just a few batches? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

the device has two firmware upgrade KE1 KE2 KE7 fina... moreIf you compare this fone to any HTC then you must be drunk because HTC makes the crappiest of batteries and cameras in any smartphone.
BTW, the battery is very good maybe you have a factory problem or it's not well cycled but i just wished u have ever used the sensation, then you will just swallow any of your complaints because i have used both very much
