[deleted post]Try doing this before connecting to Samsung Kies:
Settings>Storage>Unmount SD Card
It worked for a lot of people including me. Mine connects to my laptop without problems (core i5) but it just didn't show up on my brother's old laptop (dual-core). Just give it a try and you may strike gold, mate!

rakzzz, 13 Feb 2012So what r u doing over here n reading our views n get jelious hhhmmm go n roam over your I col... moreExcuse me but I also own an SGS2 did you not read my comment? Is this section for brainwashed trolls, or unbiased comments? I am just giving my comment. While very nice in hardware, Samsung have not got it together in that final 'combination'.
I was like most fans here, and really loved my SGS2, and forgave a lot of little bugs here and there, but over time I have come to realise that this is actually what Samsung quality is like. Keep reading the comments, battery issues, KIES etc, I've also fare them all. When iPhone faces a small problem we are quick to condemn, yet we forgive and forgive whenever our SGS2 faces problems. I have had enough, and later realised that my iPhone 4S has been more reliable than my SGS2, despite me not wanting it to be so.
Using ice cream sandwich leaks for weeks. So far so good. Do not hesitate to buy this device.

If you have battery life issue.
For Voice calls try to turn to 2G network rather than 3G as 2G is good enough for making voice calls.
Make sure to turn off unnecessary apps running in the background.
Can any1 suggest me Games that I can experience great from this phone? And is there any apps I can use to prolong the life of this phone coz having problem about its battery life. Tnx in advance!
kelly, 11 Feb 2012Thanks for your quick reply. According to your reply, 1-2 day bettary backup. How do you make ... moreNothing special, just disabled 'Auto Sync' and also I check emails manually, no 'Auto Refresh' in any app or widget, also disabled 'Backup and Restore' option.
I turn off WiFi when not needed, I am on 2G but not Auto/3G.
You can also remove Samsung bloatwares with the help of Root Explorer which you don't need.
There is a nifty app called 'Better Battery Stats' which will help you to show which apps/processes are causing 'Wakelocks' and draining your juice.
Go to XDA for the app and also search some topics which will help you to decide what you'll need to do to achieve good battery backup.
[deleted post]You are entitled to your opinion of course, but I have found the opposite. I am much happier with my iPhone. That being said, I would not say that the iPhone is a blowout to the SGS2, or vice versa. They are both excellent phones, pursuing different philosophies. (Except maybe design ahem ahem)
