AnonD-266688, 23 May 2014Actually i never rooted my phone cuz it sounds too risky, beside my phone has Knox installed, ... moreIf you flash official firmware from Samsung, you don't have to be rooted. Just use Odin. My previous GS2 was from Germany, so I couldn't get OTA updates in my country since it had German firmware, so I flashed firmware for my country using Odin, without any root. And got all OTA updates. Same thing with my GS4 mini. If you use any official firmware from Samsung, you don't have to be rooted to flash it.
Now about KNOX. Knox is not country dependent, it is region dependent. It means if you buy GS4 mini in Switzerland (like I did), you can use it in any European country without problems. But if you want to use it in come Asian country, you would first have to insert SIM from some European carrier, leave it for 5 min, and then the phone would be also unlocked to be used in Asia with Asian carriers. So Knox has to be just activated with the SIM from region you bought the phone from, and then it can be uses all over the world.
Knox info should be labeled on the box of the phone (at least it is on mine).

Lev, 22 May 2014And for those who say the phone is slow and laggy - you probably bought a fake S4 mini. S4 min... morenope, mine is no fake at all since i checked my phone same way as yoursand it only lags during gaming.. appearantly the laggy s4 mini are dual sim model with firmware 19192ububmk4 or some made in china or korea and i also visit some korean sites there are also comments that say their s4 or s4 mini lags during gaming as mine
Anonym, 22 May 2014Do you even understand the concept of a "mini" phone?
I'll give you an hint, it's b... morei usually put my powerbank on my pocket while holding my phone or i put both my phone and powerbank in my bag...since im playing Psp or Ds games on my phone my battery goes only to 4-10 hours.. its really handy to me since i can full charge least twice XD
perhaps you might buy spare batteries since all smartphone batteries will die somedayXD
Oh, one more thing. I compared mine S4 mini with Jiayu G3S phone (see specs on internet). Although G3S isn't a bad phone, S4 mini is better. Tried 3g speeds on both devices, same network, same position - S4 mini 5 mbps, G3S only 2 mbps. S4 mini also installed apps faster. S4 mini with dual core CPU, G3S has quad core CPU. And S4 mini won. Both with 8 mpx camera, S4 mini much much better and sharper pictures.
And for those who say the phone is slow and laggy - you probably bought a fake S4 mini. S4 mini I9195 is a great and fast phone (I got mine from Switzerland). I had GS2 before this, and S4 mini is faster. S4 mini opens apps quicker. We all know the GS2 was and is a great and fast phone. The S4 mini is even better. Camera is great and fast, auto focus works great.
My friend bought a fake Galaxy S4 phone. From the outside the phone looked like a real GS4, you couldn't see the difference. But when you use CPU identifier app, you could see there is only 512MB RAM inside and not 2GB as the phone showed, different CPU etc. It also had problems connecting to the network, call drops...
So if your S4 mini is laggy, then it is a good bet that you have fake S4.
I posted my comments on my I9195 before, this is the update about battery life problem and fix. So basically the battery is NOT a problem, its just a software/firmware bug. My battery last for 2.5 days now. Calls, a lot of SMS, checking mails every few hours, some browsing, but no gaming.
This is what you have to do: Disable google location services - it eats up 25% of battery over night, then I turn it off - only 2-3%. Second bug is with GPS. If you use it for navigation and then disable it, it stays ON dough the phone shows it is off! You must restart your phone after each time u use GPS! It is just a bug that Sams will fix.

I'll give you an hint, it's because size matters -- as in I don't want to carry "two phones", one being the S4 mini and the other the "power bank".
Hello for thise complaining about bettery life, what about buying bigger batteries or power bank external batteries? Im using 6000 mah power bank of Anker, it let me full charge my phone least twice while my s4 mini only have 20- 30% of battery, Though not recommended to heavily using during charging with power banks..
You better buy s4 mini because its easy and comfort in hand and i love the weigh its very light !!
AnonD-259200, 21 May 2014can any one help me please , which is better S4 mini or xperia SP ???Depends on your priorities.
This is what I've gathered when researching the two (to make a purchase).
S4 mini advantages (vs SP):
- Better front camera (2MP vs VGA)
- More RAM (1.5GB vs 1GB)
- It's far more compact and lighter (thus a mini)
- CM11 works quite well on the phone
Xperia SP advantages (vs S4 mini)
- Looks great
- Larger display with more resolution
- Far better GPU
- Larger battery
S4 mini unique disadvantages:
- New phones come with Knox bootloader, which means (upon installing a 3rd-party ROM) an instant "warranty void" and irremovable message each time the phone boots.
- Many have noted how small the battery is for the stock ROM.
Xperia SP unique disadvantages:
- Back cover is poorly achieved, it does not sit flush with the body of the phone.
- The phone is quite big, not a mini by any boundaries.
- CM11 has been plagued with issues from the get-go. Top that with the fact this phone doesn't have that many developers to begin with and things don't look too bright for the future of 3rd-party ROMs.
can any one help me please , which is better S4 mini or xperia SP ???
Wich carrier company in the usa suport I9190 network band specification for 3g or 4g?
