Freefaller™, 01 Jul 2013Read this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2352232/The-best-ways-stop-smartp... moreI've been doing all that ever since i read from the battery university. I even have one of those mini fridges for my batteries LOL!
So, from now on, don't top your battery up to 100%, don't let it drop below 50%; and keep it in the fridge when you aren't using it!
What a load of b******s !

But you should get a TPU case that has a lip to protect the edge of the glass in a fall because I can break easier than you think if it doesn't fall flat but on a presser point instead.
Is it okay to use this phone even without using a screen protector? Gorilla glass is scratch resistant right? Hoping you could guys answer. Thank you! :)
suecliff, 01 Jul 2013I'm 5hinking of buying the S3, read loads of rviews but still I have a question that hasn't be... moreThe GPS Chip does not need Internet connectivity. However, the Maps need to be downloaded for use. There is no problem anymore, as Google Maps app allows you to pre-download the map and use it in offline mode.
suecliff, 01 Jul 2013I'm 5hinking of buying the S3, read loads of rviews but still I have a question that hasn't be... moreJust for your knowledge.
Systems that use the cell network or wifi to determine your location are called
Assisted-Global-Positioning-System. they triangulate your location using the cell towers and are no way a accurate as GPS, but they use less power as there communications are to near by towers not multiple sats orbiting the earth which is what the GPS system use.
suecliff, 01 Jul 2013I'm 5hinking of buying the S3, read loads of rviews but still I have a question that hasn't be... moreIt is full battery sucking GPS. Direct communication with Global Positioning Satellite.
No cellular or wifi connection need to determine your location.
Once you have your maps stored and a extended or extra battery you are good to go.
If you need live traffic like what is given in waze. You will need Internet.
As traffic info doesn't come from the global positioning satellite.

I have switched off data, WIFI and turn on GPS direct to my workplace from home ( I went outside my house to get GPS signal) I can confirm to you that, it's working fine without any data connection!
I'm 5hinking of buying the S3, read loads of rviews but still I have a question that hasn't been answered, so here goes.... does the Gps need an internet connection to work? I've got a Samsung note and after loading a map I can take my tablet out and about and use the Gps - I really like this feature but want it in a smaller more portable device. Can anyone please help? Many thanks
