Anthony, 26 Apr 2013I think something is getting lost in what I am asking.
Can’t seem to explain my self properly... moreYes, you're losing me there!
Now, I'm not sure what you wanted to do.
While my S3 connected to PC>>>I can open picture editing software and take pictures from S3 to edit or save to S3.
If I wanted to put more MP3 or pictures or files like ebook or Apps that I downloads from Internet>>>I just simply save direct into S3's folders.
Is that what you wanted to know? because my S3 is just the same as me having flash drives or HHD connected to my PC

Can’t seem to explain my self properly to you.
Drag and drop works just fine in both media and camera mood for me.
It is using…
File > Save as
File > open
From with-in a PC program I can’t do directly to the phone.
You can do the above with a flash drive and also with the discontinued windows mobile phones.
Need confirmation that you are doing that with your SIII
No confirmation of drag and drop is needed. I already know that works.

Just slide down home screen and select USB connection then select Camera mode instead of Media device.I'm doing it right now and my S3 work normal back as b4! It doesn't assigned any drive letter to S3 but it is work like a flash drive. I can see both Phone and external memory card and all the files in them>>>>it's good for drag and drop files
j.sundar, 26 Apr 2013Are you sure about lime pie? from where you got the info? Samsung promised only 4.2.2 to s3.. ... moreI saw and article some time back in gsmarena that said SIII was getting the pie
And the SII was stopping at 4.2.2

My daughter use disc as ninja starts when playing.
She is an online baby that thinks my wife SII is her own. Netflix, youtube, Disney, discovery, games that’s what she likes. So we agreed she is get a galaxy tab 2 7”(wifi only model) this 5th birthday. (hopefully the battle for the SII will stop :-)
For me it’s just safer and faster to keep things on solid state and have backups that can drag an drop to any device quickly, rather than burning a new disc when I need a next copy.
And yes please confirm that you can…. file> “save as” directly to your phone from within a PC program as soon as you can. I really don’t like saving to the hard drive first, then using explorer to drag and drop to the phone. (Which is the way I have to do it now. With every thing from 3D models right down to jpg)
just made a software update today. bad decision; the speed has decresed, i cannot play vector the way i played before; it got some lag. the other games are slower too. i really hope there will be another update bacause i find this totally unaccepteble. my phone works bad now.

I thing you are miss understanding what I am saying.
My phone does connect as a portable media player (just like you describe)
Is also connect as a camera (as freefaller describe)
Both modes required that I installed kies OR download the drivers to recognize my phone the first time (I do not use kies)
I don’t consider any of the two modes to be a flash/hard drive mode because the lack of a drive letter.
I want you to try something to help you understand what I am talking about (that I am looking for as true flash/hard drive mode.)
Connect to you PC and pretend it is a public PC like one in a library.
Go to a web page and right click an image and try to save it directly to your phone or SD without saving to the PC first.
If you can do that let me know. If you can’t, that is what I am talking about when I say it don’t have a flashdrive mode and windows mobile did.

I never have problem using S3 as USB storages device but later today, when I connected back to my pc...I couldn't see storages (phone/memory card) in my PC. After awhile checking, I found out that I can still make it display by changing USB connection on S3 screen from Media Device(MTP) to Camera (PTP). My problem solved but I don't know why I have to do that! before was working fine under Media Device Mode.
killer droid, 26 Apr 2013Anthony, Dee you should look at that and every S3 owner out there.

I have a 64Gb flash drive with over 60 childrens films on it. That drive, with an OTG cable, keeps my grand daughter happy on the longest journeys.
does anyone know anything about usb charging. It seems the whole of the web is filled up with folks talking about pc laptop usb charging. It looks possible to use a tv port, although some tv usb ports are only to be used for software updates for the tv (like my tv), but my dvd recorder has usb plus, and yet i have found little to none info on usb charging. I may get some batteries with a usb charger, but god knows how safe it is to charge via usb from a wall socket or usb plus etc. Some folks say the item being charged only takes what it needs, others say it can damage both tv and phone for instance.
