AnonD-56991, 11 Oct 2012I don't think many people really believe a screen protector is gonna stop your screen cracking... moreYou see the micro scratches with all that finger grease on the screen? Plus a thin plastic screen protector scratches a lot worse than if the phone had a normal pain of glass for a screen (which it does not). What do you think that looks like in sunlight?
It also adds additional friction to the touch surface, so your fingers no longer glide across the screen.
Over time they get a tint because of the UV breakdown of the plastic or maybe it’s the adhesive.
On some model phones that tinting messes with the behaviour of the proximity sensor.
This is just my opinion after trying 3 different brands of the crap back when my HTC HD2 was new.
Those things became popular back when screens were made of soft plastic and touch screens used resistive touch tec. And just how that type of screen was phased out, so should its protector.
masterjams, 10 Oct 2012help..! i planned to buy s3 i concern abowt the screen! is gorilla glass right? so, do i need... moreScreen protector is for sure useful, the only drawback I noticed is the less sensitive response of the screen with the screen protector (referring to the GS3 only - it's not the same case with all other touch screen phones).
Anonymous, 10 Oct 2012hi everybody, please i need your help as i want to replace my HTC wildfire S which was my firs... moreBoth HTC One X & GS3 are good phones, depending on which one you prefer. Just don't bother with the LG P880, it's the worst of the 3 quad core phones mentioned here!
I've all three of these quad core phones, the build quality of the One X is best. Call quality & signal strength so so only. WiFi & Bluetooth connection have some issue with mine.
GS3 very strong reception, overall experience very good, Amoled screen is very comfortable to the eyes (some people may say IPS HD screen color more accurate, but who cares? ... when looking at the screen of a smartphone for a long time, it's most important that your own eyes feel comfortable; not how bright or accurate the color of the screen is. bright screen also hurt your eyes).
A phone that you purchase may come with a lot of issues, while others who purchase the same model may have no problem at all, so this really depends on your luck!
You should try out both the GS3 & HTC One X before making decision which one to choose. There's going to be a HTC One X+ coming. BTW, GS3 hold it's value better, not as good as iPhones; but definitely better than any other phones out there. I'll suggest for you to go for the GS3.

How much do you like the sense IU? you not going to have it with SIII.
Is removable storage important to you? you not going to have it with One X.
Damn, such a shamen i spend 650€ on a phone and its lagging like shit, wtff?

Anonymous, 10 Oct 2012hi.. im planning to buy s3.. i concern abowt the screen is a gorilla glass right? so do inee... moreI think screen protectors are a rip off.
But the rest of the phone is “gorilla nothing” so invest in a gel case.
Protect against shock damage that can damage internal parts.
Battery covers scratch easy as well
Screen protectors are really for brush scratching not really going to help for the damage that could be caused by dropping.
help..! i planned to buy s3 i concern abowt the screen! is gorilla glass right? so, do i need put screen protector for that device? tnx..

Don’t think it will have any real advantage to it for me.
But do please keep posting links when ever you find updates, because I will flash when I think it is worth it to me.

What you really mean is that you want to read what others are saying. e.g. Does it run correctly? Does it install correctly? Are there any problems with the ROM etc. etc. But that's alright.
Don't follow the instructions you read there. Step 7) and 8) are wrong. When you unzip the file all you will get is the .tar file you will need and Odin v3.04
Just load the .tar file into PDA and press START.
I didn't bother with steps 11, 12, and 13 either.

So what will I notice is faster if I decide to do this?
Did it add anything new that was missing in XXDLIB?

@ Anonymous (vMew)
I know you are reading the posts, so Yes, that ROM in part 2) does support English(Australia).
Anthony, 10 Oct 2012XXDLI8 ?
What is the date of the kernel version?
I’m still on the XXDLIB, kernel date Sep 21... more@ Anthony
The kernal date is Sat 15 Sep, but believe me, that is not important. What IS important is the speed of this ROM, it FLIES!
There are two ways of doing the upgrade.
1) You can flash an OTA update which is 283.9Mb, but you will need to flash ICS (XXBLG8) back onto your phone first and then put JB on top of it.
2) (and this is the way I went), put a clean install on your phone.
It's a 789.4Mb download, but I prefer this ROM because it is pure JB, not just an overwrite.
Take my word for it, this ROM is FAST!
I've been told that this is the ROM that will be released for UK users, but only time will tell.
p.s. Yes, the black band (as you call it) is still present.
