Is it just me, or are the phone makers missing out on a group of customers that would actually like a SMALLER phone? Before smartphones, I always had thin clamshells. When I finally got a smartphone, I chose the HTC Aria (Intruder). Not the greatest phone, but it served it's purpose and still fit in my jeans pocket. I need to upgrade soon for my work and I had high hopes for the Galaxy SIII. But it's even larger than the SII! It has the power I need, but not the portability. I'm afraid I'm going to crack the screen if I put it in my jeans and kneel down for anything. Am I alone in this? I don't need a large screen, but it seems that's all they are catering to. I am anti-apple because of the things I need the phone to do for work, so I feel stuck. Arrrrrgh!

I remember they were first with a Dual Core smart phone, but that was a weak one. They trying to be first at CPU, but they don't make the phone to work well. 2 GB of Ram is useless now. There are no games which need that much. 1 Gb can handle everything well, believe me.
magang, 23 May 2012dear, sgs3 maybe the best smart phone.
but quadcores with 1gig ram is useless.

I think 2GB of RAM is overkill to be honest. You would have to be stupidly heavy on multitasking. Also no games manufacturer would release a RAM heavy game in todays economic climate with no 2GB RAM smartfones on market.Remember if you want heavy gaming a dedicated console with proper controllers would be better option..
Basing your next smartfone option on 2GB RAM is fruitless as no one is going to consider putting that in their smartfones without full testing and more battery power..Each bank of RAM will increase power load but sometimes can cause latency issues.Much better to have RAM clock speed increase than RAM boost.
If you are looking to iphone 5 for your wish Apple would never stoop so low..They would have their engineers eek every ounce of code optimisation before releasing the phone..Apple will not go to 2GB RAM with IOS been super silky smooth and very highly optimised.
Mobilemaster, 23 May 2012Then wait for a global LG with 2 GB of Ram.LG phones hs some sort of you know building problems if i can say. the performance of their devices is low inspite of the high specs, something is wrong, beside they have ugly icons. their quad core 2 gig ram device will have disappointing performance

but quadcores with 1gig ram is useless.
nothing impressive i could do with this phone i couldnt do with s2 with 4.0 update.
very soon 2gig ram quadcores will be available and this phone will be just ajoke.
and when jellybean is out it may suffer from upgrading dificulties as s1 bcz the ram is the mosr important thing. besides that it has only superAmoled screen not plus, thats why i prefer s2. but on the other hand smart stay is the major major point.
idont know what to do, iam afraid to throw all this money on device will not stand for a year not 2
Anonymous, 23 May 2012I give you good advice, don't buy both of them its not worth it.You are an Apple fan? Or a HTC fan? Why do you say it's not worth to buy a Samsung phone. There is a better phone than the S3? I am telling you the S3 will be a legend! 9 million phones were already pre-ordered. The S3 is a new beginning. The S4 will kill every other high-end phones! :))
i hav galaxy s2 & new ipad, so i enjoy both android and ios games and apps.waiting for s3 release and hav a close lookup.

Samsung is the best phone factory now. They maybe were a black sheep in the industry but now they've taken gadget world into a higher standard. Congratulation to Samsung.
onlyone, 23 May 2012 well show me any highend phone from back side i wil tell u what brand it is ... and samsung .... moreHey sometimes cheaper materials are actually better for the phone, because i saw a test where they dropped iPhone 4S and Galaxy S2 from the same 3 heights and the S2 just had a few scuffs where the iPhone shattered because that glass back is just a way to convince people who don't know better that it's worth being ripped off, where maybe the Plastic phones have more flex in them so can survive drops better.
ee, 21 May 20122GB RAM? Seriously, for what?? HAHA! Ah! OK! because the shit laggy android os needs that. LOLS!Yep, Android is now past the beta phase. Minimum requirements are now set to 2 GB RAM to achieve buttery smooth no reset/hang experience! BUT needs a quadcore to do it as well...
So the new line for selling this mobile phones is:
"designed for humans"
I am not aware that Samsung is making mobile phones for animals and other living creatures? Are they?
vikass17, 23 May 2012I dont think design is ugly , actually all phones are almost same and not have much space for ... more well show me any highend phone from back side i wil tell u what brand it is ... and samsung .. haha any kid can tell u the name of that company cos ...... cheap plastic...
It looks like the S3 is already on sale in Dubai since yesterday some other sites have confirmed, but as far as i know Samsung hasn't made any statement on it.
THE INDIAN, 23 May 2012The worst thing in this phone in my opinion ia having only a 8MP camera thats irritating me. I... moreWell, you can't really compare the raw specs. Nokia managed to fit a 41 megapixel sensor into their PureView phone, but they had to sacrifice the thinness. The Galaxy S3 is extremely thin. Furthermore, increasing the resolution to 12MP will make the picture worse if the sensor size does not scale accordingly due to interference. It's thus unfair to compare like that. The problem now with the technology market is that consumers are too obsessed with numbers and pure specs instead of actual user experience.

I... moreThe thing is and i am not having a go at you is is what do you want 12Mpixels for? If you do printing and advertising and need posters fair enough, you would be better off with 808 or real camera..The only smartfones to compete with digicam is Nokia N8 and 808 both with xenon flash for crisp non blurry shots..
8Mp is plenty enough for most and most paparazzi use 6MP here in UK (or used to) for quick shots and quick upload on the UK,s pathetic broadband speeds..
