based on my experience, lollipop 5.0.1 is the best update samsung has ever made improving every important aspect of s4 devices, mine has 20 to 30% more battery time, great improvement on heating issue (back to norma)l and no lag at all; all the above should have been good on kitkat too but it wasn't, now they corrected it; i have the russian version and i do configure the phone to a very good operating level, rooting and uninstalling many apps i don't use also freezing others that i might only rarely need, keeping background app limit to 4, no animations, clean with clean master etc, but still, i do that on all firmwares while this one is an obvious upgrade on every level possible; again, the good should have been there in other previous firmwares too but "better late than never"
Recently updated my s4 to lollipop...bit laggy n battery drainage is the major issue...love the fresh user interface
and which one is better for battery life russian or indian lollipop firmware ???
Shreya s4lover, 13 Feb 2015please help me:'( my phone's bit laggy after the update:'( and there's no more smart scroll ... moreSee, lagging may have many reasons out there!
As much I think it's dur to change of the runtime from dali to ART(ANDROID RUNTIME), so all the all apps made for older may lag, wait for the updated version of all apps for lollipop!
Otherwise if some pre-installed apps are also misbehaving and crashing then wait for few time like one or two days as in the start after the update, the firmware settles I'm little time then all issues like heating and lagging gets reduced!
Updated Lollipop 5.0.1 on my S4,app icons are looking ugly, and where is Ultra Power Saving mode!? I don't need useless Kids mode, this update spoiled my phone's beauty,Samsung disappointed me again.

What about the purple screen tint/smearing issue..?
Solved or Not..?
I heard that note 2 will recieve lollipop update. So is there any possibility that samsung will update s4 to next iteration of android?
RFA, 13 Feb 2015Yes I have updated it recently. The battery drain is a major issue. I wiped the phone reset it... morebattery drainages s4 known to samsung but samsung not responding - samsung sales even for s5 dropping - factory resets NEVER help.. apparently NO CURE for s4 battery fast drainages EPIDEMIC .
SandeepJ, 13 Feb 2015Ok simple question - anybody got update for baseband NA4?I don't think NA4 the black edition of Samsung galaxy s4 has got any update... Will have to wait for few more days... But please keep on checking for software updates... Moreover I'm not sure if new update is stable or not... Over heating issues are being reported by some users.... I would suggest users to wait for sometime and check the reviews before new update..
S4 reserves 7.2 GB memory for system leaving only 8gb memory for user. Is it so or only my phone has this problem?
those who are updating to android lollipop please be patient because after updating the frist 30mins the phone will be laggy
because all gapps and samsung apps are updating so dont panic
SandeepJ, 13 Feb 2015You got deep black or balck mist? What is your baseband version?Hi all,
I got Lollipop update last nite on my Black Edition(I9500-deep black model) of 991MB(5.0.1). I did via OTA & not via Kies3. I'm frm Pune, India & here r my 1st hand observation after upgrade:
Release date 30th Jan 2015
1.UI Buttery smooth as was d previous version of Kitkat, no lag found.
2.Overall UI looks good for a change
3.Kids mode is now there
1.Was heating a lot(hope that wil go over slowly once a week passes & apps are get used to new OS)
2.I found White Background of setting menu & phone book irritating with unwanted too colorful icons(though app drawer has a transparent background)
3.As of now battery draining bit early than it was on 4.4.2 version
Rest I wil update later. But must say Black background of 4.4.2 looks better than this, which I still have atleast fr my N3neo :)
