If one charges his/her S4 twice a day(has average battery life) that would mean you have charged it around 1800-1900 times till now.
It's nothing but normal wear and tear.
My S4 is 1.5 yrs+ old and has visited service centre twice. Once the issue was of Display. But official samsung service centres do a very good job, so no problem.
Similarly my friend's Note 4 had charging port replaced after 1yr of use.
These are technical devices and issues keep coming up.
As for usage, i think you have used it quite long and buy a new one. S4 no longer holds to newer devices. Especially after Lollipop S4 has become redundant.
I will soon switch to Note 4(dont like note 5, no sd card or removable battery) or wait a bit more for Xperia Z6

My openion is that s4 is a pretty well phone now also it offers wide range of feature . Buy a new one when its no more good for use don't waste money
My 2.5 year old S4 gave me first trouble this week, and I had to take it to the Service Center.
It stopped charging suddenly on Monday, Dec 14, 2015, all of sudden, there was no response while plugging in the charger.
I took this to the service center and they replaced the charging port, which costed me nearly INR 1700. However, the service was pretty quick and I got the update that the phone was repaired before the end of day Monday itself. I asked those guys what could have caused this problem, the guy sitting at the computer who collects and submits the devices for repairs, did not seemed to be technically literate, however, it seemed that he was giving some standard reply, he pointed out below possibilities:
- Water/ Moisture exposure to the port
- Use of third party charger / cable
He told me to use the original charger, (which I am already using).
This has left me ponder with few questions which I wanted to ask on this forum:
- Shall I continue with this phone, as I am not having any other issues apart from this which was also fixed pretty quickly by the Samsung Service people? I am asking this because, my friends keep telling me that once a phone visits a service center, we can't rely on that anymore..
I personally love this phone and do not want to spend more on a new phone, as it is meeting all my needs.. Pls suggest.
Another Question is..
Does using a not Samsung charger / cable (for example charging using a Car Charger, etc, and using another USB cable) can damage the charging port? Any thoughts?
Thanks for your time!
