The Samsung Galaxy S4 is a great phone but because of too many apps are working in the background, it's drainning the battery out.
Go to Settings where you see Connections, My device and Account. Press on More and go to Application manager. Press Force stop on every icon app that you see and also uncheck the Show notifications.
Also, Open the Search Voice (S.Voice) icon,Press the bottom sreen, look for Settings and uncheck the Wake up command.
You will have no more battery problem.
I don't know why some users of GS4 are expected hanging, lagging and over heating. I have been used since last 6 months, never found these kinds of problems. I am continually updating via OTA whatever comes new updates till 4.3 and more updated for stability.

But just by rooting you won't get great battery life, performance and all. it only makes you the complete owner of your phone and not Google,Samsung,Htc,etc. There are tweaks and much more can be done. I would have rooted my phone by now if it wasn't for the USB port problem happened just before one month of use. That was a set back. Most importantly Rooting will void your warranty. So depends what's important to you.

Cathy ., 23 Nov 2013Is there any solution for the battery life for S4 ? I don't get it . Regarding batery life of the Galaxy S4, there are available many battery-packs (rechargable batteries).
The S4 input is 5v, the standard output of any USB device, so any rechargable with a USB output is good for supplying external power. I have 1 such unit that provides 10,000mah, whereas the S4 battery requires only 2,600mah so it is good for a number of refills. All that is additionally required is a cable that at one end fits the S4 socket, and the other end a standard USB connection (such a cable comes with the phone).
