Most of the problems you read on here are mostly to do with fake phones which most people are unaware they have bought at a bargain price. Not saying an original does not have faults, but buy something that is too good to be true ( price wise ) and you will always end up with problems and look for answers on here.

Just got a London used S4... fone works perfectly fine but goes off when the battery is bellow 25%...but then the screen does not respond after charging.. the fone comes up but does not swipe.. could it be the battery?
If your phone get heated up . Just turn off all the features . And do battery replacement . I recommend to find a high capacity batteries . Theres a lot of type of them that suitable the s4 . Im using the 2600mah pisen high qualitiy battery and heating problem completely gone( bought from lazada) . im also using a custom rom that removed alll the useless apps .

Believe me I bought A5 2015 rather than S4 , and I got android 6.0.1 update ... despite A5 is nice phone .. but I am really regret ..
Your older S4 is much better phone , it is much faster , better sound quality, and of course better camera. .. more than that , your device still getting updates for its stock apps
On my galaxy a5 I can't update music player or video player ... thank God they finally realise an update for Samsung Internet ... so don't upgrade your device .... or you be better if buy one of 2017 midrange models or higher
Jellybean is the highest my phone updates to 😬 Some things on the play store are not compatible and can't be installed.. (Eg. Microsoft Word)
3 years... I am still using but of course im not happy with it. Im gonna stil wait for death of my phone.
please allow to update on 7.0 (Nougat) because this device is very smart and higher version is best for s4

Galaxy s4 is the best phone, i've been using it since 2014 but sadly this year my s4 got a problem says 'charging paused. Battery temperature too low' when i try to charge it. Can someone pls tell me what's wrong with it? I love my s4 so much... and i think the lollipop upgrade is one of the reasons.

that's why I rejected lolipop update since I first read that everyone complained about the quickly drying battery and problems with the application. although you do lolipop update you should be able to install a new(old) ''OS kit kat'' in each service for mobile phones and it costs about 10 euros.
my batteries after 2 years has begun to heat up and I replaced with a new one,
do not empty battery below 25% and not to charge more than 95%, I also installed application ''Greenify'' and the battery lasts longer than before, try small applications without adds.

If you did 5.0 update on your phone, then the battery drains very quickly. if you're not then you simply do factory data reset
Battery consumption depends on the applications you have installed on the phone and working in the background even if you do not use the phone. such as; facebook, instagram, messenger, snapchat,Netflix, etc, so if you delete these apps and use them through the browser , thus saving up to 40% of the battery (day)life , the display put on minimum brightness and wi - fi, bluetooth,3G use it when you need.
li -ion batteries work better when you are not used to the end 0%,but most to 25 % and then put the battery to charge75-90% , ( why?)
lithium-ion batteries have a rated lifetime of somewhere between 500 and 1,500 charge cycles.
so if it reach 100% or less then 25% then it lose 1 cycle.(the user runs it down all the way to zero before recharging) can degrade to 70 percent of its original capacity in 300-500 cycles
With a DoD of 25 percent, where the user plugs it in as soon as it gets to 75 percent remain, that same battery could be charged up to 2,500 times before it starts to seriously degrade.
Charge a little bit whenever you can.
Lithium-ion batteries don't respond well to being charged all the way up and then run all the way down. They take much better to little bits of charge here and there. What's far more dangerous to a battery's well-being is heat. Lithium-ion batteries despise heat.
suggests that calibration – fully discharging then recharging your phone's battery – once every three months helps it maintain its charge capacity.
Still using the phone and recently received an update that as big as 360MB something,I kinda forgot what's the description but anyway it kinda fix my phone from being overheat faster(Too much app running in the backgrpund and excessive mobile gaming).Battery still drain quite fast whenever I turn on the music player and streaming Youtube video or gaming(Can't expect an old SoC built on 28nm doing well on 2600Mah battery),my S4 starts to lag even if I just wanna load Whatsapp but that should be done once I do maintenance checkup on my phone. The phone perform admireably to me but if anyone focus on a better battery life,S4 might not the right choice anyway.
MysticArea51, 19 Mar 2017I've been with my phone-- the Samsung Galaxy S4-- for only a few months. My mom gave it to me,... moreI suspect your sd card already corrupt.
To verify, please borrow someone a sd card & put into the sd card slot at your phone.
If can read sd card, confirm your sd card was corrupt.
