Samsung M8910 Pixon12 gets an upcoming price tag of 639 euro

Samsung Touch UI

The dozen-megapixel cameraphone Samsung M8910 Pixon12 is getting closer to its release date and sources in Spain have already gotten hold of the unlocked no-commitment price tag there. One of the hottest mobile phones this summer can be yours for "only" 639 euro.

The price tag of 639 euro makes the Samsung M8910 Pixon12 more expensive than the 16GB version of the new iPhone 3GS, which comes with a no-commitment price of 619 euro in Italy.

On the other hand, the Pixon12 sports a 28mm wide-angle 12-megapixel sharp-shooter with autofocus, Xenon flash and additional power LED flashlight. The handset is also capable of taking D1-resolution videos at 30 fps.

The Samsung Pixon12 specs sheet goes on with the 3.1-inch 16M colors AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, built-in GPS receiver, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support and finishes with the microSD card slot able to accommodate cards with a capacity of up to 16GB.

According to our source Samsung M8910 Pixon12 should start selling in Spain by the end of August, although at the Pixon12 announcement Samsung said it will be available across Europe in the end of this very June, with the rest of the world following up in August. Perhaps plans have changed. That should give the Sony Ericsson Satio some room for breathing, right?

Update: We now got confirmation from Samsung that the actual retail price of the Pixon12 will be in the region of 570 euro. It's starting to sound more like it now and once the first month or so passes we are pretty confident that the price will settle down to even more acceptable levels.
