Although the phone does have the added attraction of the landscape screen, I was sorely disappointed that samsung did not upgrade it to a 3mpixel camera, in the premliminary consumer testing I rated it an 8, apart from a couple of faults on the software front all in all it is a nice phone answering the question of the swivel on the screen, you flip open the phone and then u can rotate into landscape not forgetting to rotate back before you close it, a present the release date is set for monday 8th May in the united kingdom, available on o2 and vodafone to start with i'm presuming free on contract or at least certain contracts, the price i was given for the sim free version was the £450 area, which is expected.
all i can say is, fans to other manufacturer are scrambling into pieces, knowing that samsung is very way ahead of the competition, and that is not all, there is more to come, from slim to swivel screen, tv broadcasting, 3g, and voice to text and more. I am not saying this phone has it all but this is one of the example features shaking other manufacturers to tremble. LOL, I believe on samsung because this company does not have the idea of "ME TOO" behavior, not like other manufacturer which copies one features to another in order to overcome one.
OK...some people need to look.
1. of course the top of this is a swivel. to the poster who said this will end up in an x-shape...please look at the pic. It clearly is rounded at the bottom to fit back in to a cclamshell form factor when no in use for tv.
2. the layout is very clever. I am susprised that they did not choose the d500 form factor as this would see less breakable.
I've seen the CDMA version of this phone at the samsung demo store, the screen does swivel back into the traditional clamshell config for talking and closing, its only horizontal for tv watching and internet browsing.
this msg board is for opinions. and he has freely posted hid opinion. if you dont like his/her opinion. keep it to yourself or ignore it. there is no need for a reply like that on here.
it's nice but I have a problem with the software that samsung uses. the last time i used one i had to take it to the service centre coz of the error that was occuring everyday.. all in all, I like the handset and I must say the features r good but common..
i would say it will turn back in a 90% so you can close the phone properly, if not... its alreaddy loosing points.
as for the TV feature, it would be fine. my plays TV with out any type of masive loose to the battery. i can watch (on the k750i) full length movies in MP4 format on the train to work and when im done the batt wont even move.
what it DOSE need is 3g. 3g is going to be huge this year and IMO any phone without 3G is a bad idea. (unless you ofcourse u wont be using the feature)
The screen will pose to be a problem as the phone will end up in an "x" position when its closed (unless they can make it swivel, which would pose problems for either contact points or the internal ribbon).
Furthermore, why is the screen shaped in a similar shape to a PSP or even ET's head (ET's definately be calling home from his head with this thing). Also, wouldnt that screen be difficult to hold up to your head?! It looks as if you're talking to your PSP (and back in the day when people were using the N-Gage where I'm talking to my gameboy). The idea is just ridiculous and it looks ridiculous.
I firmly beleive this phone will be a fashion statement where as functionality and practicality goes out the door. Plus the price tag wouldnt surprise me if its similarly price to a Nokia communicator. Plus this phone should be 3G capable (as the camera is facing inwards rather than outwards.
Not to mention the TV function would drain the battery out quite fast as the size of the phone is not exceptionally large which would in turn mean a smaller capacitied battery.
With the above in mind, I think this phone will be another big flop like the N-Gage, or the Nokia 7280/7380 lipstick phones. Limited functions, impracticalities and exuberant price tag will make this phone another great lesson for phone companies trying to roll too many things into one.
this kind of phone is unique, but the question will e how much does it cost?, and is it durable at all?
Someone earlier asked why there is a football match on the screen. Well I can tell you why. It has a TV receiver inside it. Can't you read?
why is football match is on the screen........................lol..
dis fone is good i admit but it is not bet dan NOKIA N92.....neva...NOKIA RULES
I don't think phone will be available in the UK coz it's a T-DMB phone & this type of broadcasting is only being tested in France & Germany. DVB-H is the kind they're testing in the UK :-(
