Autumn, 29 Jul 2010plan to buy dis mobile and have some questions...
1. Is the touchscreen responds faster than... morethe responsiveness is OK but still not the best. The only downside that i've encountered so far against resistive touchscreens are through the edges and the sides of the screen. It's around that area where you don't get accurate response and would really have to press hard to register an accurate tap.
Picture quality is also ok. Though, on low light conditions, due to the fact that this doesn't have LED flash at least, the pictures do take the toll. The results are smudgy and blurred (the solution is to hold the phone still and have the subject stay still for at least 3-5 seconds after pressing the shutter button). But in good light conditions, the pictures are great! Don't expect too much though, the camera is only fixed-focus.
There are sometimes, but Very Minimal instances, that the unit hangs. Solution: press the lock button twice to lock the the screen, then unlock again. And voila! The phone works again! The phone restarts by itself on very very rare cases. I've had the phone ever since November last year and i've only encountered this situation twice.
hope this helps...
zamea, 30 Jul 2010thanks, yep im a filipina :)) im choosing between nokia 5530 and samsung star wifi :)) i find ... moreso far in regards to themes, there's just 2 default themes. One in green, and the other is Red(but more of like orangish). I haven't seen any updates in regards to themes though, and i haven't updated mine for 6 months now...
the thing that I don't like with Nokia is the over-all UI. It's just like every phone unit is the same. most of which are buggy. So for a change, i opted for Either SE or Sammy. Then I saw this StarWifi around November last year, got my pay & bonus, then went ahead at Trinoma and bought my unit without any 2nd thoughts! haha
But now, i'm already thinking of getting Wave due to it's unbelievably low price to specs ratio!
thanks, yep im a filipina :)) im choosing between nokia 5530 and samsung star wifi :)) i find it hard to choose, coz their specs are almost same, except for having camera flash of nokia 5530. but it has a difference of almost 2t. i like the color pink of star, its so cute..
plan to buy dis mobile and have some questions...
1. Is the touchscreen responds faster than any sony ericsson phone?
2. Is the camera clear enough compare to other brands such as sony ericsson?
3. Well, will the phone will suddenly hang or... suddenly shut down or other problem?
welcome S5230 Star WiFi user answer these questions, thanks a lot!!! ^^
Matejj, 28 Jul 2010Hey there, anyone can help me? I am using Samsung S5230 Star, the one without wifi, is there a... morethere's no way you can do that. buy a phone with wifi instead.
Hey there, anyone can help me? I am using Samsung S5230 Star, the one without wifi, is there a possibility to get the device for wifi connection somehow?
zamea, 28 Jul 2010plz post ur comment for those using this fon, is the camera is nice? video? tnx, Pinoy/pinay ka ba? Pics & Vids are clear! Although on poor light conditions, night mode for the pics takes a lot of toll. You have to position the camera and have it focus on the subject for at least 3-5 seconds for it to capture the image properly. Otherwise its smudgy and blurry. Video is ok even though it only captures 15fps.
Both the pics and vids, the best results come about if you're in a lit environment.
Very Nice phone but Camera Is not good as Sumsung is famous for. No Flash so cant take good Snaps where light is not good.

Anonymous, 26 Jul 2010for those who are having probem with wi-fi.. u cannot really connect to all wi-fi spots becaus... morethere are certain wifi connections that requires a password before you get the connection.. so better try accessing those that are not secured with a password.. some cafe's and malls do have this service.
yeah video chat now is available on iphone 4 but not on this device
for the WIFI Problem:
first: open the wifi, do a search. once you've found your connection, just click on either "add" or "connect".
second: if there's a password to the connection, just type it in on the "network key" option; if there's none, just click on "save" then press the "back button". having done so, the phone will connect to the wifi connection...or just connect manually.
it's either you get a prompt that you're already connected or disconnected or the other prompts(such as "no response from AP", or "DNS failed");
third: if you get the prompts indicated above, all you have to do is restart your phone, and just reconnect to the connection. you should then get a response that your unit is already connected;
finally: go to menu, then browser-settings, then browser profiles and choose the connection you are connected with and then you're done! surf all you can!!
if you already had added lots of profiles (or WiFi spots), then there's no need to change the connections. Just connect and browse, the phone itself will adjust to the connection available.
this is a bit tricky but if you follow these simple steps, you'll get along well!
if the problem for disconnection persists, or no response from AP, this would only mean that your spot or signal from the wifi itself is very poor, or there's just too many people using the connection at that moment...so try again later.
