Anonymous, 27 Jan 2011I totally agree! that's why in my question I specified that i was pro wave, exactly for all th... moreLet my try to help you, as Iwas in a similar situation a few weeks ago (my choices were Samsung wave, SGS, and N8). Due to the fact that I have to travel a lot to countries/cities that I don´t know, and I have to change sim cards many times I went for the nokia (free navigation and 3g pentaband)
You can use navigation off line, just download the maps from the country you are and no need of internet connection to use the gps (voice navigation is also available, this has saved me a lot of times by now.
I don´t know about c7 but right now the second batch of n8 is working great (not the slightiest problem), and I found the OS good.
Cons: I don´t know were you are, but Ovi maps are great in Europe, not so in America (I don´t know about Asia), so you better check if maps are available for your country if not the options are on line services (same as android or wave).
Another problem (although a minor one) is that sometimes there are better routes than the one proposed by the gps, anyway driving a couple of extra blocks is better than getting lost)
In my experience I´m happy with the choice I´ve made, not because N8 is the best phone out there, but because it fits my needs (off line gps navigation, pentaband, great camara, etc), again, I´m in Europe and maps are very good here.
Another option to consider is HTC, they also have gps with the possibility of downloading the maps to the phone, but I think only in the top of the line (desire HD, Desire Z), but you might want to do some reaserch there (I did before buying).
Another option is, buy the wave (great phone) and buy a dedicated gps device!
Anyway, If you go for the nokia, I don´t think you´ll be fine, I was really surprised with my phone, it turned out much better than what I was expecting.
Hope this help!
it is nice to watch movies on 8500 but very poor codec support. yesterday when I transfered a mp4 movie it play only video without any sound, with a message, unsupported sound codec. really disappointing.
