[deleted post]cant put WM,iOS,Symbian and RIM because its not open source
but Android can, you just need to have access on the bootloader, need skill on linux tho..
as for OS and Windows you can run Windows on OSX Leopard using BootCamp
and you can run OSX Leopard on a PC using a modified OSX distro
As i don't want my mp3 ringtones to be listed in the music player, i just edit the mp3 IDTag and write "Ringtone" in Genre. Can use any free Tag editing program like Mp3Tag
Phone is brilliant

Security on Bada is too tight compared to symbian

Does anyone know what the difference between the versions S8500B, S8500 and S8500L? Different versions run the same applications from Samsung App?
David, 17 Oct 2010Thanks to everyone for the replies so far. Anyways, I know it sucks that Samsung staff here in... morei think xm1017 is right, maybe what samsung phils. wrote is just the memory available for the user. the remaining 1Gb+ is allocated to the phone.
And what the other samsung sites wrote is the total amount of memory, not taking into account the memory used by the pre-installed apps.
the wave got how many mb of ram??? and got any hardware madia accelerator???
[deleted post]Sorry, you have to have credit or debit card and need to register to Samsung Apps website.
@ all repliers to David
Probably, the best ways to solve this problem are doing research about the specification of this phone & buying it to see for yourself
David, 17 Oct 2010Thanks to everyone for the replies so far. Anyways, I know it sucks that Samsung staff here in... moreDavid, if you like Wave, buy immediately. Lalo mo nang minura ang Pilipinas!
If you can have it, you will enjoy and forget the specs difference.
1.5 GB system storage, 390 MB user available
this is from gsmarena , maybe the samsung.ph website was referring to the user availabe memory since 397 MB is what's state in the website and its close to 390 MB form gsmarena
I guess philippine s8500 model still have 2GB internal memory , there is probably an error in the samsung.ph website, or maybe they just don't know the facts about their phones ! poor samsung representative
David, 17 Oct 2010Thanks to everyone for the replies so far. Anyways, I know it sucks that Samsung staff here in... moreyour right the samsung philippines website does say 397mn of memory , i have a question is the ram still 512mb for philippine model or not ?
David, 17 Oct 2010Thanks to everyone for the replies so far. Anyways, I know it sucks that Samsung staff here in... more@david.... ur right... even me, i dnt know wat is d real specs... samsung stores the staff told me, 2gb internal and up to 18gb... external... some store told 8gb and can support up to 32... confusing... so i think its 2g internal and support 32g externall... i hope hehhee
David, 17 Oct 2010Wow. Can you please explain what you "can't stand" about Bada OS? Almost everything ... moreunfortunately i just can't like it.
The phone itself is superb, which is why i bought it on the 1st place, as i think i can't be worse than nokia sym phone.
but using milestone n wave together (traded bb 8520 for wave, the ui/ os, the diff in ease of use is just too big.
so, if there's no way to install other os (even sym or samsung old os for godsake) i might trade it for bb torch maybe..
Can someone explain me why we can not put android,wm,ios in this mobile. If we flash phone and delete softwer, why? Also why we can not put leopard in pc and windows on mac?can someone explain me?
Anonymous, 17 Oct 2010i bought my Wave here in the Philippines
WTF! what kind of Samsung Store is that they dont kn... moreThanks to everyone for the replies so far. Anyways, I know it sucks that Samsung staff here in the Philippines have completely no idea what they're talking about. I also understand hayato's point from his post earlier. I really hope it's not a matter of "features discrimination," but there really could be some truth to this.
Check the Samsung Wave specs on the Philippines website here: http://ph.samsungmobile.com/mobile-phones/s8500-specification
Compare it with the Samsung Wave specs on the Singapore website: http://www.samsungmobile.com.sg/mobile-phones/wave-specification
Also compare it to the Samsung Wave specs on the UK website: http://www.samsungmobile.co.uk/mobile-phones/samsung-wave-specification
Scroll down the "Memory" and you will see exactly what I mean. User memory for Philippines' Wave is only 397MB as opposed to Singapore and UK's Wave's having 2GB.
And of course, MicroSD External Memory limit for the Philippines' Wave is only 8GB, while Singapore and UK is up to 32GB.
I was just very worried about this. It's either that an idiot committed an unforgivable typographical error on the Samsung Philippines website, causing even Samsung Concept Store staff to follow those facts; or there is really indeed "features discrimination" in our country as we know it.
I am really set on buying a Wave here in the Philippines and even helping our GDP, boosting economy and such. But if this is the case, I will take my business elsewhere and get a Wave for the same price in another country, with full features.
