This is an amazing technical achievement from Samsung. I come from Sony Ericsson and then Motorola droid and this is beyond comparison. Camera could be better but it delivers good photos. It feels and works as a premium item for affordable price. Hope the application market grows so to be on Android level.

"The real weakness of the phone(WaveS 8500) is actually the Samsung PC software called Kies, it’s not ready yet, it’s horrible and frustrating. Of the now 200 users reviews of this phone (today is August 13th, 2010) at the German Amazon website, virtually EVERY negative comment or low-star rating revolves around this software, and they’re right(!). Thanks for the codes. Frankly, I didnot know about these 2 codes. What I have done is posted your query on a few of the Samsung wave forums. If I hear back from any one , I will let you know.
Samsung Service Center seems to be oblivious to such admin menus, or may be they are just not letting the cat out of the bag yet.
After days long internet surfing I finally decided to purchase Samsung WAVE 8500 instead of a Nokia. I got it for Rs 17500 at Cochin. The main attraction was its “decently good” GPS capability and touch screen and the new BADA OS. If you are going to purchase this phone, please rethink again considering the following facts.
1. GPS is almost dead in this phone. After hours long ‘exercise’ finally the GPS receiver locked and indicated that I am now at Colombo. Actually I was in a small town called Thodupuzha in the central part of Kerala State, which about 800 Kms away from Colombo. What a sensitivity!! Even a cheap mobile made by LG is giving excellent results regarding GPS capability.
2. The Kies software which Samsung had given with this phone is not at all user friendly. Even the user’s manual is incomplete and you have to look for details in some ‘WAVE forums’.
3. The BADA OS is not yet time tested and only a very few applications are available in internet.
4. Setting up of email accounts etc are not all easy.
More problems may follow and I shall update you in due course. Anyway think twice before you purchase this toy.
