Hi just want to check with you all, is it necessary to do hard reset after firm... moreI am not aware of anything like that mate. We would only know if someone notices a significant difference in performance after a hard reset when firmware is upgraded.
And I will get back to you on the msgs/memory issue.
I am using Wave for almost 2 weeks. Purchased this from India and now am using it in Middle East. I was a Sony Ericsson user and had all my previous phones from SE with the latest one was VIVAZ.
However I’m really elated with the performance of Wave. Truly Samsung has done a good amount of research before launching this model. The new OS BADA has come with all necessary options with excellent hardware built quality. Though it doesn’t have GPS like SE or Nokia models but the Music player, Contacts, Bluetooth, 5 MP Camera, Media player all works perfect.
I have some experience of I-phone and clearly I find Wave surpasses it in many ways. Most importantly Wave is more than 30% less expensive than I-phone. Signal quality is little poor but the Music Player with equalizer and effects are excellent. The Touch Wiz is also excellent and the Contact list comes with an auto recognition which means it starts to show the relevant contacts when you type the first three characters.
Firmware upgrade was bit tricky but I am able to do it. Just got instructions from Samsung forums with a little bit of trick in the registry to force KIES to do the upgrade. Samsung is working with the KIES well to reduce the gap between SW supports from well known phone manufacturers like Nokia and SE.
Battery life is also acceptable but you have to reduce to Screen brightness to at least level 3 for a good battery life.
Well done Samsung and hope more improvement and firmware upgrades are coming in future. I highly recommend this phone.
Waver, 13 Aug 2010Yeah, probably 160 chars per SMS. But definitely NOT 70 characters! So it gives me incorrect ... moreI never get any warning even my message more than 2 pages, only when send will remind me the message will be sent by 2-3 or more pages.

Just want to check with you, can you reproduce the problem that I posted lately ?? (after I updated to JF3 firmware)
In folder view mode:
You just keep open and read the messages (SMS and Email) and close the messages (SMS and Email) TOO many times (between 100 times to 200 times), it will sure give you "Memory not enough, unable to launch application" error message whenever you want to read my messages (SMS and Email).
From that point onward, you will be not able to read any messages. Since it will always give this error message whenever you try to read any messages (SMS and Email).
Restart is the only way to let me read the messages (SMS and Email) again.
Although many people not doing like what I did. But for long run, one day I'm sure that I still can hit the number of times and getting this annoying error message and causes me to restart the phone in order for me to be able to read the messages (SMS and Email) again.
Many thanks in advance.
ic3rock, 13 Aug 2010I think all the same right? 160 to all phones...Yeah, probably 160 chars per SMS. But definitely NOT 70 characters!
So it gives me incorrect warning when I type long SMS :-)
Any idea how to change this?
New waver, 13 Aug 2010I am on JF2. :)

Hi just want to check with you all, is it necessary to do hard reset after firmware upgrade ?? (Like example from firmware version JF1 updated to JF3). :?: :?:
Because if do hard reset, every single app that installed previously has to reinstall after hard reset.
I've heard a lot about Android firmware update. A lot of people said it needs to do hard reset after firmware update in order to get better result. (Like example from Android 2.1 [Eclair] updated to Android 2.2 [Froyo]).
Anonymous, 13 Aug 2010Went through complete reinstalls & hard reset & updates & finally comes up on PC..... moreWhats stopping you from having gmail on it mate ?
Here are the instructions if you are having probs btw.
2. my accounts
3. add - Exchange Active Sync
4. filled in my gmail: email, username and password (domain blank!)
5. URL adress: m.google.com, ticked use SSL
Hope it helps.
New waver, 13 Aug 2010Try this. Open kies, in the upper left drop down menu, select Driver Recovery. Went through complete reinstalls & hard reset & updates & finally comes up on PC...but still no sync with Outlook Calendar and still no Gmail on the phone....one step at a time I suppose!!
When the characters in the SMS exceed 70 characters, it gives me warning that "send 2 messages".
First of all this warning should be able to be shut off permanently.
Moreover this count of characters(70) is not correct. Is it specific to UK?
Because in India I guess the characters allowed per SMS is 120(at least more than 100)
Any way to change these 2 things?
Hi! Can any pls tell me how to connect my Wave with Samsung PED TV via ALLSHARE?
@ New waver @ JP
Just want to ask you both which firmware version that you're currently using ???
i wanted to know which cell is better nokia n8, sony vivaz or samsung wave on the basis ov there camera's picture quality...??
Just received a mail from Samsung. They said they are going to forward my request to the concerned dept and let me know what is their take. I hope they incorporate swype.
jp, 13 Aug 2010Ahaha! Sorry about that! I got kind of cross-eyed there...
Anyway, it won't download all em... moreThanks ! I download only the headers even in my current settings. :) There are so many useless mails that I find it better to download the mails I need.
It works great when you set it up with the mail for exchange though (And it does not require to have mail for exchange configured on your PC to use it, you use it just like that). It only downloads the mails that get sent to your profile after the date you configured it on. And you can make it to deliver those mails in real time. :)
