Anonymous, 05 Aug 2010How about TouchWiz on Galaxy S? Is it same as on Wave? A one on Wave is boring yaar.. Thats a ... moreTouchwiz on Galaxy S is almost similar to the Wave, but the Live Wallpapers do make a huge difference.
The widgets on the wave are admittedly huge and busy-looking. But that's the point exactly -- it gives a different feel to the UI. But if you want icons with the "neat placement and professional feel", just press the menu button and you have it right there. Now if you get tired of that, you have the funky wave standby screen that can even scroll (use landscape-oriented images) and even use animated wallpapers (gif and png). The stock Sense UI screens may be already pretty at default, but the TouchWiz UI in Wave and Galaxy S really gives you a lot to work with! Try looking around the net for samples of wave users' screens and you'll see how far the new TouchWiz UI can really go! Pretty amazing stuff!

Simply use the buddies widget, that's your speed dial already right there. :)

The voice dial app seems to be gone in the retail units (the units used by reviewers had it). Let's hope they bring it back in the next firmware upgrade

Anonymous, 05 Aug 2010After long hours of thinking i decided to sell this phone for €320, i bought it for €380. T... moreI'm not sure if you're making things up, but here's a point-by-point reply:

1. The battery is disastrous, it drains in 30 minutes when browsing the net or playing music.

- That's highly unlikely. Some retail units may not be getting as long battery lives as the reviews around the net got, but nothing like yours. It's the highest rated battery life right now actually, but the batteries in the Wave retail units don't seem to be the same as the review units, hence the uproar from buyers like me who had high expectations but get only two days from it. Our batteries' lifespan apparently is just as short as iPhone batteries' lifespan, but at least they're user replaceable. And they're nothing like yours. Anyone who isn't insane would return your battery cos if what you're saying is true, it's clearly defective and not the norm.

2.the gps is fuking useless, there are no maps in it and the navigation system doesn't work either.

-GPS works in camera geotagging out of the box in any unit (First time satellite locking takes long in any GPS device and you have to do it outdoors, maybe you haven't done that). For some regions, if you want maps and nav guides, you have to sync your country maps from a desktop route66 sync program. Like the manual says, GPS package is dependent on your country/region.

3.the OS is a joke, it's not a smartphone, it's just an upgraded touchwiz that does basic things.

-if you don't read the manual or are poor at discovering functionalities, yeah it becomes a joke. a smartphone can only be as smart as its user. the wave multitasks and even does more than iOS devices despite being smaller.

4. the samsung app doesn't work lol and when you access through the kies all you find are java apps.

-is there a different worldwide web where you are? :P only bada- (open source) and samsung- (proprietary) developed apps are in Samsung Apps/Kies. java apps can be downloaded from other sites and the wave can handle these jar/jad files made for different kinds of phones, since the "Games and More" app has built-in settings to handle different java configurations for each downloaded program (screen size, touch/non-touch control, etc)

Anyway, I hope such comments from neg trawlers like you don't discourage those who are trying to find out how good Wave is before they buy. If they do get discouraged, they'll be missing out on a great gadget that's really a steal at the price it's being offered right now. I don't think you can get as much functionalities from any other phone at its price point

soundara raja, 05 Aug 2010there is no provision to transfer other phone contacts to samsung wave handset, as all other p... moreWave does support vcf files. You can either send them from your previous phone via bluetooth direct to the Wave. Or if you already backed them up as vcf files, you can load them on Kies and transfer them to the phone via USB (Or you can bluetooth the vcf files from pc to wave).

I wish Wave would have android OS or Bada itself but with better appeal and complete different homescreen UI and architect than touchwiz. Samsung need to come out of TouchWiz and invent something magical and even cooler and fresh than HTC sense.

Ok almost a wk with the Wave, so far i noticed that when i get a voicemail and then erase it the icon stays on the screen, as well as the Batt. life is terrible, charged it Tuesday night and it is now almost done, only played Asphalt a few times and on wifi to update the weather, this not acceptable, i also upgraded the firmware over the weekend to JF7.

what i want to know is the battery life improve after i finish cycle it (about 1/2 now)

Is there a speed dial available

is there a voice dial app or function available

How about TouchWiz on Galaxy S? Is it same as on Wave? A one on Wave is boring yaar.. Thats a biggest letdown for me. I don't just want multiple homescreens, I also want them to accomodate atleast 5 widgets per screen with overall neat placement and professional feel. I can't see that on Wave. However I wont get Super AMOLED on other brands. Confused :(

I have seen lot of videos on youtube about wave and I didn't really liked widgets mechanism and overall feel of homescreens and internal UI. Android on the other hand is cool. I have shortlisted my choices now. I will most probably get HTC device in same or little higher range. Sense UI is a one of the coolest UI out there.

I saw 2 movies ( full length ) on mine and the battery had dropped only 2 bars. I find that acceptable for 4:30 hrs of continuous HD video playback. :-s

I would have concluded that you had a defective battery, but the rest of your (senseless) points indicate that you are a troller.

Get a life man !

After long hours of thinking i decided to sell this phone for €320, i bought it for €380.

The reviewers didn't review this phone, they just simply played with it and thought it was good and tricked thousands of people to buy this garbage.

1. The battery is disastrous, it drains in 30 minutes when browsing the net or playing music.

2.the gps is fuking useless, there are no maps in it and the navigation system doesn't work either.

Do not buy this piece of $hit or you'll regret it big time.
